The Single Player Map Making Contest is a friendly event that challenges you and your friends to build the best single player map for Tiberian Sun or Firestorm. This contest is being organized by Titan Mark II and supported by the most popular TS modding sites of the web such as Project Perfect Mod and TiberiumWeb.com.

Unlike most of the multiplayer mapping contests organized so far, such as the successfull Open Map Competition, this one is harder, since single player maps demands a bit more work, specially with triggers, which scores much more now.

So, plan your map, make it original, detailed and place some good lighting on it. Avoid symetric maps, make sure there are several entrances for each base and enough tiberium close to it. Use your imagination to motivate the player to expand into the map, making each conquest deserve a good celebration. And check more tips HERE and HERE.

The maps will be reviewed by five judges (Bittah Commander, TitanMarkII, Muldrake, Slimby and Judeau), all are veteran modders and Muldrake was 2nd place in the latest TS Open Map Competition. The maps will be judged according to the following attributes:

- (25%) Original Concept: The layout is rated by originality. Missions with realistic environments will get a lot more points than blocky ones. This part also defines the story behind your map and the way it is used in the map.

- (10%) Balance: The judge rates if there are any imbalances. Clear differences between Easy, Medium and Hard, are there too many/too few starting units etc. This heavily depends on the judge’s taste.

- (20%) Eye candy: The judge rates the details of the mission, lighting, cell details, map errors, cliff errors and also some other cute things. Note that in the case of a lot of obvious problems a judge may even decide to give negative points (subtract them from the other categories). Eye candy and detailing are taken very seriously.

- (15%) Fun Factor: The judge rates the fun factor, replayability, game speed, and AI behaviour. Randomizing things (things change every time you play the map) without affecting balance will get you a lot of extra points.

- (25%) Triggers: The judge rates the available triggers on three things: if the triggers really work, how the triggers affect gameplay on the map and how much the map depends on them.

- (5%) Extra: This is the bonus section. Whatever the judges think of a map, whatever special feeling it gives them but cannot be put in any other categories belongs here. A maximum of 5%!

So, compared to the Open Map Competition the weight of most attributes dropped a bit, but triggers have increased a lot. And there is this new extra factor that can do a lot of difference, even if it's just 5%.

You have until december 15th to submit your maps, although there is a good chance that the deadline is extended until the first day of the next year.

Winners may get some special maps made for them, as well as a good recognition and custom ranks on many forums. If the map is brillant, I can send one of the remaining Renegade Mousepads from the OMC to the winner.

Good luck and success!
