Well, after days of banging my head against the keyboard, I've finally managed to isolate the database issues and solve them with minimal data loss. For those wondering, the overall outage was caused by a power disconnect that somehow locked out and corrupted many of the databases.

What was lost? Any threads that were created in the ten days before the outage. I was able to restore most of the data, but lost the thread table, and had to restore that from a site backup, the last one having been unfortunately ten days ago.

What are we doing about it? StonedStoopid and myself are currently putting together cron tasks to run on the server that will backup the databases every 2 or 3 days. When I wake up that is. I've been going around the clock and it's finally time for me to lay down and die. See you in a day or so... my bed is calling for me.
