ok, so i put new infantry into my game but they don't show up, so i try to replace an already existing infantry unit with a different image that i inserted into the game, i have checked everything in the art ini and the rules ini but for some reason it doesn't work.

heres an example

ART ini
[someunit]
primaryfire=23,23,23
remapable=yes
etc....etc....etc.....

RULES ini
[already existing unit]
Image=Someunit
etc. etc....etc.......

i have tried everything, i've used Denmon's Nod unit pack, units from RA2 and yet nothing works, i can't add building images either, but i can add new terrain objects every single time, just nothing else! not animations, infantry, or buildings! wtf!

i don't know what this is exactly, but i was wondering if anyone would know, or mabye my computer just has a problem..... but if you can help than thanks

did you put your .shp files in a ecachexx>01 .mix..

yup, that's the problem. put all your new SHPs in an ecacheXX.mix file where XX is a number from 01 to 99.

you should download an XCC utilities pack first, open XCC mix editor and create and ecacheXX.mix, example 'ecache03.mix' then, when you've opened your ecacheXX, drag the new SHPs from your directories into the mix editor window. save your ecacheXX.mix, code your art.ini and rules.ini entries then try and see..

and then watch out to write the name correct in both art and rules.
sometimes even an uppercase/lowercase error can cause the game not to show up your unit.
to prevent that i always write the unit names in art and rules in uppercase.

also watch out that the units file name is the same as written in art/rules (should be obvious)

erm.... i have already put them in a mix file..... Very Happy
yeah! i have checked everything! i copied the exact name of the file and put it in the art and rules ini!

it doesn't make sense why this is happening.......... i have checked everything.......

once i named a unit TU for The Unit (very simple) in art i put [TU]
and in rules i put [TU] but when he comes out of the barracks he's invisible........ i even put Image=TU, but nothing!

it's confusing.......

ok, so i have been testing this and doing experiments......

i have figured out that i can infact insert new buildings, animations, overlay, and particles.... but i can not make new infantry!

everything that i insert into the game requires that i put DemandLoad=true, so i tried that on infantry, and it dosen't work........

so i have nothing..... im just confused, ive tried almost everything for it.

any suggestions?

demandload is for the buildup anims IIRC.

so

The .shp file comes out ok?

tu.shp is in your ecachexx.mix with the largest integer? xx=03+

[TU] has an entry in art.ini
including its own art sequence.

unless its animations are based off current existing ones. ex..E1sequence or E2sequence..etc. etc.

and

[XXXX]
Image=TU; exist in the rules.ini or FS.ini entry.

thats all it takes to get it to work...

it's just the flak trooper from ra2, i also tried another one called TU, and that was image of a nod e1 from denmons infantry pack.............

oh! mabye you could send me some rules and art that you made a new unit in and send it to me to see if it will work.... ya?

i donn't understand, i mean it should work if i can put new animations, and buildings......... so ya

take a look on your InfantryTypes list. perhaps you gave your unit a number that is already used by an other unit.

nope.............. hmm..........

well lately i've been trying to get the new infantry to appear, but only one thing has worked......

i tried replacing the elite cadre image and it actually worked, but i tried it with other images and none have worked. so i tried putting the image that did work back in, but it didn't show up Sad so im confused
