New Year, New Community Mods!
Subject description: There were many mod releases in the latest days!
There are so many mods being released and it looks like we are sleeping with this lack of news, right? University is a pain in the ass sometimes, but it's time to get over the time we lost here:
-> Contra 005: Creator released this mod after christmas. Contra is a popular modification for Command & Conquer Generals: Zero Hour that adds 3 new generals (USA Cybernetic, China Flame and GLA Assault), over 70 units and comes with a new ranking system that unlocks the good units once the you advance through level 3 (something that reminds Defcon). Of course that AI was also improved in the process.
Anyway, the version 005 fixes several bugs from previous versions, adds few units and improve the AI and make the mod a lot more ballanced.
-> It Came From Red Alert - Release #2: Daz has released the second beta of It Came From Red Alert, a mod that brings Red Alert 1 to your Yuri's Revenge. This version comes with most graphics done, from buildings to vehicles, infantry and even terrain! The mod is looking impressive so far and you can download it HERE.
-> Whiteboy's Rules 1.5: Whiteboy released the preview version of his mod three days ago. This mod aims to improve the gameplay from the original Yuri's Revenge, by adding new units, buildings, features and an exciting campaign mode, among other minor changes that makes the game cooler. This version 1.5 heavly polishes the version 1.0 released some years ago.
-> Beowulf's Rules 2.0: The leader of Freedom Studios, Beowulf, has released the version 2.0 of his mod that also enhances the gameplay and adds a lot of features for Red Alert 2. Download it HERE and have fun.
And in an unrelated news, at IsoTX, Mod Toaster 2.5 was released. This version supports Zero Hour maps, mod banners and manuals. The mod cleaning system is more efficient and there is a news system that keeps you informed of ZH news. Head to IsoTX to download it. According to Whiteboy's Rules about section, Whiteboy has modified the campaigns to make it cooler... I usually browse the whole site of a mod I don't know about before posting news about it. QUICK_EDIT
I have a campaign? I think there's been a miscommunication here. WR is simply compatible with the Campaign, where most mods aren't. More details HERE.
Here is a word-for-word excerpt from my About section:
WR About section wrote:
Once again, WRV1.5 is a "general gameplay enhancement" mod. It aims to simply make Yuri's Revenge more fun to play, especially for players who have already played the unmodded game to death. It does this by having a more challenging AI, many new units and structures, new abilities/features, many new game modes, a more exciting Campaign mode, and making thousands of little changes here and there, all to enhance the game.
Simply put, WR fully acknowledges Campaign mode where many other mods ignore it. Playing through Campaign in WR is a challenging experience, and more fun than the unedited Campaign thanks to the new stuff.
Also, don't judge an entire mod by a single screenshot (I'm looking at you, Gosho). Banshee has happened to pick an outdated screenshot (not that I blame him, but there are better screenshots on my site).
Just because you see the Eiffel Tower in that screenshot doesn't mean it's the same thing from the RA2 Soviet campaign. It's been heavily modded. All sides are balanced, and the general scale of the game has been upped - tech levels can now go much higher but nothign is overpowered since there is always something that downplays it. The Paradrops have been violently nerfed.
What I'm trying to say is the mod is balanced, fun, and much improved over V1.0. But don't take my word for it. Try it yourself and see!
And hello PPM Forums! About time I joined here. _________________

Welcome to the PPM forums, Whiteboy
Btw, the way I wrote the news isn't wrong, but Gosho really misunderstood it. I actually made a good use of your about section when posting the news. Regarding the screenshot, I must admit that I'm not good on picking the best screenshot and it wasn't clear to me that the screenshot above was outdated at that moment and that there were better updated screenshots. No worries at all Banshee, I'm just glad I found this thread and hopefully Gosho will read my post and try WR. I'll be around these forums making occasional posts. Kudos for the PPM network! _________________
I played the mod and I must say - you definetelly improved a lot since a previous version I played.
And sorry about being rude, I was just very dissapointed with having no campaigns. You could add some Yuri missions, if you feel like it though QUICK_EDIT
I could. If I had no full-time job, no social life, no other hobbies, and if I really wanted to return to a mod I've been dying to release to get off my chest for years
Anyway, you can't magically make new campaigns. You either replace the existing ones or mess around with exe hacking. Which I'm against.
However, people have expressed interest in making some Skirmish-based missions designed for Yuri and the other sides. Sort of like an expansion for WR. That kind of thing is quite possible - hey, why don't you help those people out? You know you want to _________________
Actually, you can magically create campaigns using RP (at least for Yuri). And you won't have to do any exe hacking, unless you are against it as an idea.
