Napalm Bombs in the Game Engine?
Subject description: an effect I havent seen any place else.
Ok so I was making a mapmod for tiberian sun. I wanted to try and make a napalm bomb so here's what I did: Basicall I created an inaccurate discus projectile. When the projectile hits its target it spawns about 20 flame (FIRE1) animations. I did modify the dammage taken while the animation was active, but very little. Anyway heres whats interesting about it. It acts almost like a hidden particle system:
Destroys light structures (things like helipads) almost instantly.
Barely does any dammage to heavy strctures (refinaries, warfactories, etc.) Unless multiple bombs are dropped; in which case lots of dammage is taken very gradualy.
Unless hit directly, infantry slowly get burned.
Does barely any dammage to most types of vehicles
Whats more interesting is that the weapon seems to disregard the initial dammage its set to do. While making the weapon I reduced the dammage versus types to 1% and its origonal effects remained!!
