Few years have passed since the destruction of the rogue Super-AI, CABAL. The world has been divided, areas with low amount of Tiberium infest are controlled by GDI, where scientists work hard finding solution for the continuing mutation and destruction of all known terrestrial lifeform. The areas with average amount of Tiberium are mostly under the Nod authority, constantly stroken by horrible Ion Storms and meteor strikes, feeding the spread of Tiberium lifeforms. The civilians living in the ruins of the cities that once stood high have become fanatic Nod assistants. The highest amount of Tiberium, where the air is perilous, and mutations and Tiberium lifeforms roam trough the lands, are concentrated on so called "Hell Zones". No man has ever step there alone. The Forgotten, the shelter of the mutants, shiners, feed their population in abandoned underground Nod bases, and are keeping away from the battle above the ground. Some speculate they have a great plan going on. GDI has been hunting down the remaining Nod colonies, but they have been busy concentrating their resources to the research against Tiberium. In 2037, the Deadalux team that worked in the Southern Cross was researching the data they had recovered from Tacitus. Suddenly, the device began to shake, and all the nearby computers shattered into pieces. The Sensor Arrays outside the facility detected somekind of message sent into the space. This incident was examined in Philadelphia, but was stated as a malfunction in the computers, although everyone knows this was not true. Few years later, something unexpected and horrible happened: A giant fleet of alien space ships were detected passing Venus, and closing Earth. The reason they were not detected before remained unclear. Perhaps they used somekind of stealth technology. The fleet launched an attack towards the Philadelphia, and the missiles equipped with Nuclear Ammunition that Philadelphia had launched had no effect on the ships' shields. Lucky for them, the Ion Cannon Satellite was close enough, and for an unknown reason, it's Ion Strike blasted trough the shield, wrecking ship after ship, and eventually hitting the engines of the Alien Mothership, making it crash to Earth. Due to it's stealth technology, GDI has had hard time to find it, while the aliens could repair it. When Nod heard about this, they attacked and demolished the Southern Cross, the Deadalux Team were captured, and the Tacitus was stolen. All the back-up information from what GDI had found inside the Tacitus was destroyed before they could have been taken away. There were more than hundreds of victims. GDI broke the alliance they had made in the war against CABAL with Nod, and immediately proclaimed a war with Nod. This was anticipated by Nod: Mysteriously, they re-joined their world-wide troops, and launched a large counter-attack. Few hours before Nod had sent broadcasts all over the world. In those broadcasts, a man standing in the shadows claimed that Nod is the guardian of this future of mankind, the Scrin, and they would do anything to stop GDI from stopping the evolution.
