thanks for the comments Stingerr and yes I do love artillery especially cold war and modern artillery but I also love tanks and other military hardware. Its going to be one tough artillery piece to skin because im not used to skinning such high poly count artillery but ive got some good examples of how it should be skinned like. Ill keep you guys posted oh and the model will be used in a ice crusade mod im working on. One thing though I might not finish it soon because I still have to finish my type 81 and b-52h and set them up properly with their locators and positioning along with their animations.

Heres some info on ice crusade:

http://www.g5software.com/Non-Shocked/product-cca.htm

Anyway enjoy Smile

I don't fully understand why you're making it, or at least in this way. If it's bound to be a voxel, polyshaving isn't an issue really. Voxel render times and preformance are based on their volume alone. Of course, if it's meant for a game like generals or similar it's far too high a polycount to ever work successfully.

I especially don't get why you rendered the muzzlebrake so perfectly but used that rectangle for a gun. Being polywise is a good thing, but only when evenly applied.

It looks very decent, especially compared to your earlier stuff, but once one learns the 3-view technique, it comes more down to construction ability than accuracy.

Best of luck, but just remember this isn't anything Earth shattering either.

Hi guys newer version:

Rattuskid this model was made purely 100% without any 3 view drawings or blueprints.

This isnt for Red Alert 2 or Generals. I have already left the ra2 modding community for Ice Crusade and there the poly count can exceed 30k :O. The model should be finished off by today I just have to fix the minor details at the back and at the turret.

Hahah. No. That "new version" is so different than the previous image. You added a box. Amazing. Rolling Eyes

You didn't answer the question of what you're doing on a C&C community site with unrelated material in the Media Hut.

one question on the barrel, It looks like you could crank it up to shoot at a higher angle, but it also looks like the barrel is attached to the body of the tank?!? I'm not an expert on army stuff, but is that realisticly wrong?

Wrong again IcySon there are other changes other than the box but because u cant use ure eyes properly u are the forum fool.

Modern Warfare died due to an IE with China.

Er...there aren't any noticible changes within the view you've given us, Uni. And it shows how patient you are if you abandon something just because of a simple IE. Just use InI Checker and Except Checker, they'll help isolate the issues.

Why does he always call people 'turds'? Is it the only 'bad' English word he knows? Does he somehow think we didn't get tired of that in 4th grade... or does he just have a secret scat fetish?

Damn, even we people try to be decent with Uni, he still ends up making a complete ass of himself. It's like a case of Asperger's on steroids.

Because Yotta ia afraid of criticism, dispite the fact that he HAS STOLEN before, when the allegation comes up he seems to have a heart attack when people question it. Nevermind he stated that he has quit the community, yet he still lurks around. He begs for work from voxelers like Tony and RlyBigTank dispite his 'leet voxel skills'. I can hardly belive that he made that.

Erm.. anyways, are you going to smooth out the front of the turret? The rest of the tank is smoothed nicely except for that area. Odd.
Maybe add ground for a shadow? That's all the rage in concept pictures. That and excessive reflection.
And give us another view besides the front-- let's see the back.

Universal wrote:

Most of which is in the cylinders. Which is a waste since it'll be skinned.
How many triangles does it have?

Just the mentality I could expect from IcySon,Desu, and Von nothings changed in the community.

@Arikado: the smoothings fine on the front of the turret its just the bottom slopes inward and the render makes it look like it has horrible smoothing. Currently its about 4.1k polys and I will be making another version of the MSTA-S once im done of the current prototype.

Took you 2 days to mirror the barrel on the Y-axis and switch their positions?
Oh, and a box connecting them. My mistake.

You removed the 'V-Blade' below the barrel. Did you delete the polys or just move it down? Either way it looks like its still there...

There's some clipping on the top, small cylinders. Lower them a bit as they are cutting into the body.

no it didnt take me 2 days I just worked on it for a few hours yesterday its just ive been busy working on other models too and setting up their locators, animations , weapons , configuration files etc... Oh and thanks for noticing on the clipping I thought i had taken care of that and the v blade wont matter once i skin it.

Im starting to love maya and hating max because its so inefficient.

Well Universal, it isn't the community that hasn't changed, because it is always changing. Alas, it is you who may never change. Ahem, ztyping, ahem.

But for some reason, I believe you made it, since you do see to know what you are doing.
And it's a trade-off: Maya is more efficient, while 3DS Max looks better. Nice Job.
