Subject description: For more stability!
Reply with quote  Mark this post and the followings unread

Today, CnCVK has released yet another revision of Rock Patch. Considering the latest complaints of lack of stability, this version should be a good choice for those who follow the RPCE trade. Here's the deal with his own words:

*AlternatePrerequisite bug-fix
*NodAdvancedPower -> SovietAdvancedPower work now.
*Fire SW is rewritten.
*Another... (not very important)

Head to Rock The Battlefield to download the latest revision and keep submitting any bugs you find out to help to bring more stability for this patch, for genuine Yuri's Revenge users only.

Er....I really kinda doubt that no change is unimportant, CnCVK. This is one of the main reasons people are moving away from RP. Because of things like this, many older community members are starting to avoid the RP. Undocumented features/changes, buggy codes, and broken features.

No, they are correct. It seems utterly ridiculous to unnecessarily change things and also just plain stupid to not document 'not very important' changes. Rolling Eyes

Right. Every change, EVEN if it's merely byte edits, should be documented. That way, we know what has changed since last version. And if you think it's not important, then don't tell us about it.

Kudos on your worthless outburst Banshee...

If something is worth documenting at all it is worht documenting in detail else what's the point in documenting it when we'll never going to know what the change actually was?

but if something is not worth documenting, then he doesn't need to document it and you don't need to know it.

The changes that he said that were not important were probably not worth documenting it. They won't affect the user.

Which is my exact point Banshee...
If it's not important - he shouldn't have even made a note saying he'd changed something. There is absolutely no point in mentioning it without actually telling us what it is fully. How often would you see in a change log for a piece of software 'Changed something relating to something (Unimportant)' or another such useless line? You wouldn't as it's just not professional or even sensible.
If you feel somethings worth mentioning as 'unimportant' it's obviously important in your mind on some level else you'd never have thought of even stating that you'd changed it at all.

I'm sure you can appriciate how worthless '*Another... (not very important)' is whereas 'Minor changes to X' would actually tell us something useful.
