Incase any of you havent seen it already, here is the new and hugely improved Nod Laser turret in Tiberian Sun Retro

Its based off of the laser turret in the Tiberian Sun movie clips

Take a look at this Very Happy


Just the turret


Buildup of laser turret also showing shadow and base
This is actually going to be changed to show a hatch opening and the laser turret poping out (like in the TS Movies)

Full credit goes to spider-man_2099 for making the turret, and applause to his superb work

oh and heres a laughable screenshot of Westwoods official laser turret with the stupid turret detachment fault that often happens

I'm afraid not... the turret is a vxl just like the mammoth tank turret for example... capable of aiming and moving just as the firing direction desires...

the reason for this stupid fault is Westwoods decision to strangely change the laser turret from the pretty cool looking .SHP one you see in Beta screenshots. To the current .vxl turret that (if u look closely) isnt actually made properly as the end peice of the turret is half invisible thus having floating remap rings around it.
Why change something like this, its another mystery

wow, nice job dude,

btw I think I know how to fix the turret error, giving it an Invisible Barrel image will fix the fault i think....just create and invisible vxl and name it lasbarl, put it Sun directory and of course the .hva too...

Just a thought...

the first intention was just to replace the awful looking turret, but when spiderman made the base too, which looked just like in the FMV i decided to replace the whole thing

However i will be trying both the new structure ingame and the turret on the old structure
just to see what it looks like

P.S. What are your thoughts on this, do you think I should replace the whole thing or keep exsisting base ?

Smile yeah ingame pics of both would be nice, but obviously changing the whole thing is good idea, ah abt the Turret fix I was talking abt, giving an invisible LASERBARL.vxl doesnt work Sad but it i was thinking maybe renaming the LASER.vxl to LASTUR.vxl, that ought to work coz the TUR tells the game it's a turret bit... maybe...

Well that last fix you're talking about won't work for sure... the building turret stuff is al set in rules.ini. This also means Barrels are not possible.

he was talking about the turret error... you know when a unit gets very close to a laser turret, it aims down too much... looks really stupid.

ok ive tested it ingame but before i post any info or screens i need to get
1.the shadow corrected
2.The turret offset corrected
3.The PrimaryFire offset corrected

this will take a while along with other things, but not ages (if u get what i mean)

1.Correct firing offset
2.Correct the turret offset (which is quite clear)

It's not the turrent offset I beleive it is was not corrected in that screen so the base is up and over a bit.
