And more community news!
Subject description: Covering 28/04/2007.
Hello everyone! And yet another one community news, right? They are an easy way to catch what's going on elsewhere. Good for someone who doesn't want to take much time posting news like me, because I'm overloaded. The auto-normals got some good progress today. My tangent plane method worked... partially. Half of the voxel was well normalized, the other half had normals oriented to the oposite direction. This auto-normals research is making me become far more nerdish than what I am... and those who know me might have noticed that I'm a big nerd. Just wasting hours, days, weeks, years working, promoting and keeping a C&C modding website, specially in a country where RTS modders are so rare, like Brazil, is a big sign of being a nerd. But spending days sleeping, eating, checking forums and researching normals and all this calculus nightmare is a torture. But if this article must be done by may 9th, I must keep researching, dispite my declared hate for calculus.
But anyway, getting back to what really matters now, the community news.
-> Official C&C Site: They've announced a C&C3 Novel written by Keith R. A. DeCandido. The C&C community knew about this book for ages, since someone found it on Amazon.com last year. Anyway, head to the Official C&C site for the press release. Those who live in the US and Canada will be able to buy this book tomorrow. If you live in Germany and UK, you'll be able to get in the following months. Now, considering that press release, if you live in Brazil like me, you'll probably never be able to read that book unless EA guys mails you one . I just hope everyone enjoy the story. Keith DeCandido already wrote other books based on famous game series like Starcraft and World of Warcraft and also based on Marvel comics.
-> If you wanna know more this Keith DeCandido, check the interview with him at C&C Filefront. The interview is very nice and funny, although he doesn't beat Joe Kucan.
-> At Rock The Battlefield, CnCVK has recently released the revision #0052 for the Rock Patch Celebration Edition that fixes problems with some EVA related tags. He has also released a revision for the RPCE 74 (testing version).
And let's finish with our tip of the day, for those World Builders mapper wannabe. If you are looking for good scripts, check The Cursed website. The webmaster develops some very useful scripts (like the convoy one) and you can download it there. Also, get your C&C3 mapping skills ready... something big is comming! Wow, those are some insane-spiffy normals...Well, the top half, at least. Hope you can get it straightened out, that just looks incredible!
BTW with the bottom being black, it kind of gives it a chrome-look, doesn't it?

It's a shame Europe gets things always much later.. it doesn't take months to fly a plane over the ocean meh.. I'd like to read this book when it's out (in English).
