In YR, you can have working tunnels if you install the Terrain Expansion.

I see
I don't play YR much

and my DVD player blew up on me a couple of weeks ago
I put an old CD player in
and I have an old RA2 CD
but my YR is in the last decade DVD so no way to play it online

DCoder is right, you need to have YR, and then an installed Terrain Expansion (you can find it by googling it)

Hey, there buddy, you tryin' to say somethin' about First Decade? Laughing
I have C&C1, RA2, YR, Generals, and ZH on original discs. But, I have the First Decade, too.

Anyway, on topic. I have the terrain expansion, but I had read somewhere before that to actually have them work in game, you have to open the map up in notepad or such and edit an ass load of variables to get the tunnels tubes working right...

True that, but last time I checked the instructions were part of the TX download?

I didn't receive any instructions... On anything. But, I saw a screen shot of an older version of TX that showed a section called tunnels in FA2. I think it was used to fix the tubes, drastically cutting the number of variables needed to be edited. This version doesn't have that function. Is it possible it was removed?

"tunnels in FA2" sounds a lot like instructions on how to get tunnels to work in FA2... Did you try reading them?
Quite simply, tunnels won't work unless you make a map, place tunnel entrances on it, and connect them. To do this, you need the ever popular RA2 map editor, FA2.
If you have the TX and FA2, I would recomend reading the instructions that came with the TX on how to impliment its features in FA2.

FA2YR 1.02 does have tunnel making functionality, aas long as you're not in beginner mode. You still need to correct the map in notepad afterwards, though. (Or go hardcore like I do and write everything except terrain in notepad in the first place. #Tongue )

I have FA2YR 1.01. I'm not in beginner mode. I have no tunnel function. I'll have to code the tubes by hand unless someone knows why I don't have tunnels even with TX. But, that little bit of coding doesn't worry me. I just need to know what variables I have to edit.

Get 1.02 ... It has the Tunnels tool on the left. After you're done drawing tunnels, test them out, if they come out wrong, like once cell off, you'll need to edit the [Tubes] section, I don't recall its format offhand but I'm sure ModEnc has it, failing that, look at DeeZire's guide (MAPS2.doc specifically) and let me know so I can add that info to ModEnc as well.

Tunnel editing requires you to modify FAData.ini's [Debug] section to enable them. The TX used to give the option to install a TX optimised FAData.ini, but now you need to install the switcher module and download the switcher tool from the TX website to activate it. The idea behind this was to make it easier to uninstall the changes made to enable TX mapping. The system will probably be replaced again when marshall releases his mod installer software as the TX will be installable as a module for that. Unfortunately it seems the download script for the TX site has got screwed up again so at the moment the switcher isn't downloadable.

Yeah, I noticed, to get the TX installed I had to manually mix the with the mix editor. They need to get that fixed! Laughing I'm off to find 1.02. Has anyone created a working tunnel map for YR or RA2?

Yes. TerraScope has several, but you'll have to find out which exactly on your own, since the descriptions are somewhat lacking in this. And their navigation fails in Firefox, too... Also, Assault Mappack 2 has a couple IIRC.
