Okay, here
Okay, I had a dream last night (yeah, you can see why much of this won't be possible) and a bunch of cool things happened at random in YR during this dream. You've probably stopped reading this topic by now, but I'll keep writing anyway. I won't list some of the obviously impossible things, but there was some cool stuff I'd like to get to work.
1. A cliff that rose out of the ground (like what sometimes happens in an earthquake when faultlines hit excessively hard).
2. A big indestructable steel door that would lower into a bridge and then rise back up into a wall, and then go back to a bridge, then back to a wall, then... well, you get the idea.
3. Two big searchlights on top of the steel wall-like structure that the door was a part of that had guns attached and when something wandered into the light it would get blasted, but if the light wasn't hitting it said thing wouldn't get shot at.
4. An underwater tunnel that I could see into that units would go through.
Any of this possible without .exe modification? _________________ When you've convinced yourself that killing an animal is 'murder', but killing an unborn human being is 'choice', you sir have become as dangerous as a person can be.

First, let me start by stating you are pathetic.

Not as far as I know.

You mean like a gate? If so, then yes, it's possible.

Not sure about that one, but I suppose it could work. Though I doubt that you could have a gate and a base defense in one structure.

Possibly, but the water would have to be on top of a cliff, and you could put a tunnel through the cliff. And you'd need Terrain Expansion. _________________

I've had plenty of those types of dreams myself -
1. You could make it a building that looks like a cliff, and be Targetable=no Immune=yes with the buildup anim looking like it's jutting out a the ground - I think you can use AI triggers to have the AI build it.. not sure on that though.
2. absolutely freakin not
3. Not sure if RA2 supports spotlight logic. In TS, you could probably make it act like a component tower to be attached to the wall, and put HasSpotlight=yes to the building, and Primary= [something with the same range as the spotlight]
Then make a trigger attached to each one, "enemy in spotlight" >> "change light behavior"
this would still shoot at things in range, whether or not they're in the spotlight - but they's probably get caught in the spotlight anyways, so it wouldn't matter I think.
4. You could make a new tileset that looks like you're looking at a tunnel beneath the water and put it where your tunnel would be...
but it would be really time consuming, and you still wouldn't be able to see the units anyways...

Okay, I know how to make a tunnel, so stop explaining that part (thanks for trying, though); I was wondering if I could make the tunnel with a transparent top (underwater is really irrelevant, though it would be cool to have boats going over the tunnel at the same time).

No, not really a gate (I know how to do that), beings as it would also be a bridge (but only at certain times IE when the door was down). But as Blackster said, this is really a highly unlikely thing to have happen. I didn't have much hope for a draw-bridge style anything.

I think it supports searchlight logic with RP and NP... but I mean a search light that would only shoot at things in its light, and (I didn't note this beofer) detect stealth units when said unit's in the light, but not at other times.

you could make a tile set that looks like a tunlle but is actauly done the same way as cliff but it would have to be completly open toped.
Um... the point was kind of to have things still have the ability to traverse the top of the tunnel, like they do with normal tunnels, but to be able to see inside. there' no way to see units inside a tunnel - what happens with tunnels is it just makes the unit's image disappear, with only the selection box visible, so you have the impression that it's going underground. _________________ The Fall of Hammerfest - Epic Tiberian chain story

I honestly did not know this. Thanks for telling me.

im assuming like an medevil like bridge and no, it isnt possible
Yeah, that is pretty much what I was talking about.
Okay, the cliff thing would be easily possible but WAY too much work. It would be a project to consider as a public resource for someone with no life and no project, though, if they just made the SHP and basic code, and then released it to the public... but no-one is ever gonna do this. _________________ When you've convinced yourself that killing an animal is 'murder', but killing an unborn human being is 'choice', you sir have become as dangerous as a person can be.
