Is it possible?

I can edit units, weapons etc... but when it comes to projectiles, particles etc... i have absolutely no clue.

You mean removing the wide red glowy part around the laser? No, you can't do that. It'll either behave like that, or like a railgun (meaning it'll be thin).

Search a bit for examples, there's plenty around the forum.

you can get a thin laser beam by using a railgun which uses a particle system with no particles but has a laser line.

well you could try making a railgun and edit some properties of the particles such as making them last only 1 frame. You would probably have to mess with Protuberance settings and such until you can get the particle rings to touch each other.

wow Alex that was helpful #Good Gift
It was already answered 2 times!

And if you want to go in detail, then tell it right.

Make a new ParticleSystem. A copy of an original Railgun.
Change the tag ParticlesPerCoord= to ParticlesPerCoord=.0001 and in the corresponding Particle that is listet in the HoldsWhat= tag change MaxEC= to MaxEC=1.
Then no Particles are drawn and the anim lasts only a short time, with the result of having only a small laserline.

You only have to change ParticlesPerCoord= to 0 and you have a laser as seen below with the particle sytem my laser infantry use.
Code:

[SmallLaserSys]
HoldsWhat=SmallRailgunPart
BehavesLike=Railgun
SpiralRadius=6
ParticlesPerCoord=0  ;this is the only thing that needs to change from a normal railgun.
SpiralDeltaPerCoord=.035
MovementPerturbationCoefficient=.3
PositionPerturbationCoefficient=20
VelocityPerturbationCoefficient=.6
Laser=yes
LaserColor=255,0,0 ;the colour of the laser in RGB so in this case red.
