Many thanks to Godofgamers for compiling this into SHP for me, it works flawlessly thanks to him! Very Happy

No he doesn't. Confused That's simply a screen from his mod. The Physic Sensor is still brick, not steel, and the glow under the spinning sensors is still yellow, not green, and the Tesla Coil is still release.

As for the walls, they're too orangeish. Beta walls were the release walls, with barbed wire, spikes, and a remap strip. SADLY, due to EAP's brilliant coding, remap is impossible, as all other remap walls will change to the players colors. IE, you are red, and your pink enemy will have red-remapped walls in his base. Confused

The barbed wire does look a bit dark/thickly done tho, and the perspective looks fubar for some reason. Confused Also, your barracks are covered in remappable dots.

Yes, because letting people know just how far you are along is a crime. Rolling Eyes

Um actually, these are the prerelease walls. :S :S :S But, back to these, they're lazily done. Dude, the spikes in the damage frames, would it kill you to replace them with the undamaged spikes? I wouldn't use these.

Seconded. Confused

I can see why they ditched this for the release version, it's too.. "evil", doesn't fit in with the rest of the structures.

btw, gl with the refinery m8. can't wait to see some Allied stuff, tho. Confused

Evil was the original design of the soviets AFAIK, most of the structures have the building tag that designates which AI builds it, and the comment usually says something about soviets being the "evil" side.

Thirded on the orange statement.

And, yes, plz get us some Allied buildings. Or the concept Soviet CY. :3

The walls look much better in temperate theatres. I was going to work on making the snow walls match better with the bricks of of soviet buildings (i.e. pinker), but I'll be away for the next 10 days or so.

That's odd, I never noticed that. I'll try to work on that sometime.

Snow frames are same as temperate in the old screenshots, so snow frames are not needed.

But you tweaked the release version of the nuke silo so it would fit in better with the retail version, so why not just put some decent snow frames in? I've got some pinkified walls right here.

Fair enough, do as you will. I don't really care what you do with these walls as you did me the favor of compiling them into an SHP. Smile

It was PRE-release, beta. Incomplete. Add some snow + make it professional.

... why would it really matter what ANYONE does with them? You've released them publicly, they're anyone's to edit.

ALSO.. yes, the barbed wire STILL looks too thick. Confused

I never said I changed the barbed wire, only pinkified it to fit in better with the other soviet buildings.

Not to edit, but to use. Only Gamer has permission to edit. Wink

They're free in the public, meaning anybody can do anything with them. Edit, use for Soviet nations, use for TS, use for masturbation tools. Whatever. Its free.

That's my point. It's public. _ANYONE_ can edit it, you can't just say "Oh, you can't edit it, I don't like you, you can edit it because I like you".

They can edit it but not release it.

I technically could take the leaked windows 2000 source code, edit it, compile an OS called "Windoze Two-Thowzand", but it would be both wrong and illegal to re-release it as such. Same basic concept here. Wink

That would be true, IF, simply having these .shp files on your computer was illegal. It's quite legal (and allowed) to edit and release this, as long as the edit-er A, credited you, and B, didn't use these for profitable gain. Similar, but not the same.

Ok dude, so you're saying I can go take MadHQ's Yuri Refinery, stick some shit on it, and release it as a "Psychic Beacon"?

Yes, you could. You might get your ass roasted for it, but as long as you credit him for the original building, yes, you could do it. Of course.. YOU, in particular.. I'm not sure. But, yes, people could.

Me thinks that Tyler doesn't get the idea of copy right (however right or wrong the current laws are). Although this is a derivative work which complicates things, if it were an original creation the creator has a time limited monopoly on distribution rights of both the original and any derivatives. Its around 70-90 years I think in many countries after which it is supposed to fall into public domain where anyone can do anything they want. It used to only be 14 years, but companies like Disney and other big media companies keep lobbying to get it extended.

The point is..if you edit someone else's stuff..DO NOT re- release it..yes well everyone with sense knows that, but on another note a person should also not release a mod with edited versions of said persons work if they directly say "do not edit this"

Plain and simple is it not ?

While I agree as a matter of courtesy you should inform people that you intend to use a modified asset in your own mod, I think this stance is a bit hypocritical personally since none of us extend the same ethics to the work of WW or EA. Admittedly they do have a certain implied tolerance for mods, but even if they didn't, would we have cared? I do think if you are going to provide a public asset you should at least accept people modifying it to use it for their own needs. Its very arrogant to assume you have created the perfect asset for any situations it might be used in. Granted many people will probably make it worse for what they need (look at all the bad cut and paste jobs on WW assets), but a few will be improvements or refinements that are beneficial.

Pink version is better, and it could really use snow lovin'.

Work needs to be done on this when all you fags are done pretending to know what the ztype you're talking about concerning copyrights.

The overly thick barbed wire can be easily fixed, and I shall get to work on that on Saturday or Sunday, when I get back from my road trip to Memphis, Tennessee. I have added snow to the walls; however I don't have access to those files at the moment (as they are on my comp at home).

the things holding the barbed wire imo should more centered in the wall because depending on where you placed the wall, it could be pointed toward the base or outside of it, when it really should be uniform. Same with the spikes, whats the point of those if they are inside you base?
