The death of my favorite free shooter.
Subject description: Those sons of a....
Well, I was playing on a paintball server on Starsiege: Tribes, and I saw a message. "Sierra will be ending all master servers and multiplayer support on August 16. I went to the Sierra home page and yup, its true (http://www.sierra.com/en/home/news/product_news/071607_-_sierra_heritage.html). This really ruined a good day. I know that they have a right to do it, but if only they minimized multiplayer support instead of just ending it! Now I'll have no reason to even have the game on my harddrive since it has no missions and only multiplayer maps(exept training). QUICK_EDIT
Every game has a beginning and a end, and usually the end won't be good, but in the end, theres always something there that can easily replace it. :p _________________ ... QUICK_EDIT
Why no one seems to like Halo on the internet despite it being one of the most successful games in quite some time surprises me.
Halo is primarily a CONSOLE shooter, which is why so many teenage preppy guys like it. Half-Life 1 is completely PC, the _ONLY_ HL1 game for console is Decay, for the PS2. Half-Life 2.. *shrug* besides, most of us here don't play console games alot, considering this IS a RTS (and computer-primarily) forum. _________________
IDK what makes you think preps play Halo, I think you need to have that re-adjusted. I don't know how your preps work, but ours here in the city don't bother with such stuff, they have iPods, cell phones, and cars to entertain themselves. Also; Half Life 2 came out on the Xbox, and I do believe the first Half Life came out on the PS2 as well. Starts in Black Mesa before all h3ll breaks loose?
Yes, Halo is primarily a console shooter. Still fun to play on the PC when you've got massive maps and people to play with. *waits for the day he has his own copy on the PC* _________________

Freshmen preps, Modders. And I'm not exactly seeing your usual goth guy playing Halo 2 for XBox 360..

No, NOT Half-Life 1. Half-Life: Decay, like I mentioned earlier. Similar to Opposing Force, it's an expansion that follows Dr Gina Cross and Colette Green, a couple other HEV-suit scientists. _________________
Er...I'm kinda your usual goth guy playing Halo 2. I listen to King Diamond FFS. It gets no worse.
Also; I'll get the game from my friend, check on it, get the first Half Life, play both and compare. I disctintly remember Gordan Freeman being the main character. I just might be wrong. But it's possible you might be too, so don't jump to bold text yet.
Unblock on MSN, we're getting offtopic. MSN would be a better place for this.
[ontopic] Well, that sucks that Sierra is killing support for the game. Now you know how I feel about the lack of Diablo 1 support.[/ontopic] _________________

Music taste does not prove your clicke (clique?). I listen to Avril Lavigne, yet I'm not a preppy girl, am I? my friend Kenny listens to SOAD, and he isn't a hardkore goth, either.
And now.. ontopic..
Yea, it does kinda suck all the retro games are getting killed off. *shrug*
At least Half-Life will never die off. At least not for a while. _________________

What really interests me, is that I still buy starcraft and starcraft broodwar off the shelf at any major games retailer. Its no real suprise actually, given the fact blizzard actually cares and takes pride their work, and has managed to keep SC up to date so long, and has many loyal fans. If it was up to EA, startcraft ghost would have been released by now, but it wasn't up to scratch by blizzard's standards and got cancelled.

.. Wow. Blizzard cares alot. Yea, Blizzard + Id are.. best. SC:G = Starcraft-based FPS, right? *shrug* Ren was released in.. uhh.. '02, and.. forgotten by EA by '03.
*shrug* Can't blame em, tho, I'd be ashamed if MY company released a piece of crap like Renegade. Over-hyped, under-developed, and unbalanced suits it well, imo.. _________________
