Here's EA's Press Release for CNC3: Kane's Wrath...
Quote:
LOS ANGELES, Calif; August 15, 2007 - In the name of Kane! Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: ERTS) today announced that the Command & Conquer series continues to thrive with Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath. As the expansion pack to the critically-acclaimed and fan favorite, Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars, this Real-time Strategy (RTS) game returns to the Tiberium universe with Kane at the center of an epic new single player campaign.

"The reaction to Command & Conquer 3 Tiberium Wars has been tremendous. Fans and critics alike appreciated the combination of fast, fluid, and fun RTS game play with a deep story and the classic full-motion video sequences that are a hallmark of the Command & Conquer series," said Mike Verdu, VP and Executive Producer at EA Los Angeles (EALA). “I’m excited that we’re able to go back to the Tiberium universe with Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath. This expansion has an impressive new single player campaign, a new global strategic layer that adds depth to the familiar Command & Conquer style gameplay, and several fun, all-new toys that range from versatile combat soldiers to giant armored walkers."

The single player campaign will allow players to experience a new story that spans 20 years - from the rebirth of the Brotherhood of Nod after the Second Tiberium War through the dramatic events of the Third Tiberium War and beyond. The story is told through a new set of high-definition live action video sequences starring a celebrity cast. Joe Kucan, the original actor who portrayed the character Kane in Command & Conquer games over the last decade, will reprise his role as the megalomaniacal leader of the Brotherhood of Nod. Other details of the cast have yet to be announced.

Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath also features a new strategic layer to gameplay that allows players to establish bases, build customized armies, and attack their enemies on a global scale - and then dive into the frenzied tactical combat where their skills as a commander will make the difference in battle. The game introduces six new sub-factions and a wealth of new units, structures, and powers to the armies of the Global Defense Initiative, the Brotherhood of Nod, and the enigmatic alien Scrin.

The Xbox 360 version of Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath will debut a revolutionary new radial interface designed specifically for console gamers. Taking RTS controls to a whole new level, players will utilize the command stick to build, deploy, and attack.

Developed at EALA, Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath will ship in Spring 2008 for Windows PC and Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system. This product is not yet rated by the ESRB. For more information about Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath or the Command & Conquer series, please visit www.CommandAndConquer.EA.com.

Looks like titans and Mammoth mk2 mechs are back...
Notice the SPRING 2008, this means once again at the end of march, if not even later (Q2 2008?)...

Oh, and something not mentionned here is the expansion is stand-alone (at least the 360 version is, as it was confirmed) and that Xbox 360 and PC players will be able to play against each other. (O_o)

Several fun, all-new toys that range from ... to giant armored walkers...
ALL-NEW...
lol...

And I'm not jumping the gun. I'm no longer excited about CNC. Sure, I'll play it because it's CNC...but I got to tell you that frankly, SC2 is alot more than CNC3.

All New? So.. maybe not the old units coming back then?

I'd like to see a come back of the Titan and Mk.II, if only for the single-player when you're playing during that time zone, but I don't expect them to bring back every unit from that era.

And the expansion pack will be like all the others. You'll need the original game to install, but thats it. No suprises there?

And.. where did you get the info about PC and 360 players being able to play against each other online? Something I am interested in, but not something I was expecting, nor have heard anything from confirmed sources.. so where did you pull that from?

PC vs 360? Map transferring? Maybe there'd be a world build for 360 included. (is there one already?,I don't have the xbox360 but my freinds do)

On a side note, can you make modded maps for CnC3? If so, whether titans are campaign specific or not, you could always make it so you can play with 'em. (I haven't modded annything past YR.)

Also, if the story goes from the day after the death of cabal, then they must have the entire GDI and NOD forces from FS! (as Carno may say; I am jumping the gun) but wishing thinking helps pass the time...

My guess is that these new toys will be nothing that we have seen before, i honestly doubt that titans will make a return any time soon.

If the game is supposed to start right after or very soon after the TS war, they are going to have to recreate a lot of the TS units or there will be even less continuity than there was in vanilla TW. That means that Titans and such will have to be there, or this is going to be an uber-shitty expansion story-wise.

I would rather see new mechs, Titan MKII and sorts, not the same old nose-shooter quad-walker and the bipedal mech with a gun on it's forehead...

no, the story will start after FS and end 3 years after TW, so it will cover about 20 years, including the 3. TW.

btw, there are allready destroyed Titans and MK2s in TW - I am pretty sure that EA also has undamaged models of them and that they are sone kind of hint for the addon.... Wink

I think I mentioned in another thread that having to recreate the entire factions from the TS/FS era is going to make the expansion bigger than C&C3 (all the TS stuff, plus all the FS stuff, plus all the C&C3 stuff, plus the KW stuff).
I can't see any company do that for an expansion pack price (£15-£20).
It'll be a lot of work to recreate the TS sides for the sake of a bit of the campaign too.

They're either going to have to cut stuff or they're going to really go all out and charge at least £30 for it.

As much as I didn't enjoy TS, a £30 expansion that effectively has 5 full sides (TS GDI, TS Nod, C&C3 GDI, C&C3 Nod, C&C3 Scrin) in it might be worth the money. Especially if they were all available in multiplay (I'm sure someone would very quickly mod them to be anyway).
Not that I could ever see it happening.

is dollar to pound about 1 pound to two dollars?

I'm pretty sure that the 360 one is gonna be the full 60 bucks because it will be independant from CNC3, but I am wondering about the pc.

They may not have to recreate everything from scrath because don't they make 3d models of every unit? And unless they deleted the old models like idiots, I'm sure they're on some disk somewhere. Sure they'll have to add more detail and such, But it must not take them even half the time to make a new one.

And, if Daz is right on his sides, which I think he is, they said there would be a total of nine, which leaves for four more, 2 of which are scrin, and the others are gdi and nod.

interesting, im reckoning its a few years after ts with new tech based on fs tech so like titan mkII and mammoth mkIIs and certain stuff, then it will become gradually more ordinary with more powerful weapons on tank platforms like tiberium wars. it would be stupid if the fs tech is just as powerful as the tw tech so its bound to be weaker

tbh ea shud have make the original game like this and then made the current tw after
