Hello Guys!

First off: I'm a new user and so heeeeello community! I'm a (substandart?) concept artist, which loves both, Warcraft and Command and Conquer... Now, with the release of Tiberium Wars, I did get some ideas for units, which imo would be cool... A friend of mine gave me some suggestions, too... Now, sadly all my past attempts to make a bigger mod for Command and Conquer failed, but I really like my ideas and I don't want them to be wasted. That's why I post them here! Smile If you like them, ya can use them in your mod! ^^ (mentioning would be nice, though Wink ) Oh, and sorry if I missed a forum that is for such idea threads, but I saw none... <.<'

Note: I will update this thread later with more concepts ^^

Name: Scorp Mech

Side: Nod

Weapons:
-Tail: Portable Obelisk Laser
-Side: Small Laser Cannons

Ability: Burrow - Can burrow under the earth... While burrowed normal units won't see it. Holds automaticly fire, but can be changed so as soon as an enemy comes to close, the tail will shot out of the earth and fire it's laser.


edit: removed 2nd idea for some reasons....

I hope you like them and well, maybe I'll see them someday come true in a mod of yours! Very Happy

Zone tank sounds just like the Scorpion Tank, and the Scorpion Mech sounds just like the Avatar...

Welcome to PPM handclaw.

its a good start. but try developing further. and getting familiar with character Turnarounds, and model sheets. (google for examples).

Not only will it help you build stronger concepts, but help you when pitching ideas to people. Wink

Alright. Design comments:

the front portion [head] is too humanoid.  I see your trying to recall the more insectoid designs from the old concept art..which I like.. t but that human element really does not merge to well. it looks alot like the GDI commando helmet. #Tongue

Heres an concept from Godzilla. the animated series.



Researching is key.

Also play around with your scale a bit, since its just seems to large as a industrial concept. Imagine Nod trying to mass produce giant scorpions..as if the Avatar was enough...give it a different role. different weapons..why would Nod use such a thing. scare factor? I like the idea of it burrowing and its tail acting very similar to the TS Nod laser turret.

Pynk, thanks for the response Smile You also gave me an idea... ^^ ATM I'm redrawing the Scorp Mech with a different "head" and different weapons: Two lesser lasers at the side and a Microwave Cannon on his tail. This way, altough not able to do a lot of damage, he can disable very dangerous units.... Maybe bit overpowered? <,<'

Hmm, sorry to be hijacking the topic but I think that EA should of done this (I hope the xpansion will have this), if the scrin get their mother ship which is a piece of shit lol then NOD and GDI should also get a portable SW. I was thinking of core defender for NOD or at least a civilized one lol but same concept twin lasers ultra heavy armor, GDI the MKII (the remaining ones) but scaled properly and same concept, but for scrin I'd throw out the mother ship and replace it with the 'scrin primal' that was a kick ass lookin unit in a leaked screen shot where it fires energy into the ground and all surrounding guys die.

Even if the things don't come true I'd still actually like to see the "Scrin Primal" on the battlefield one day Very Happy

hey mate that looks like an awesome idea, wot do u reckon for my mod, would u allow me to use it,

im thinking it could replace the beam cannon with a long range laser on the tail and the ability to half submerge like a tick tank making it stronger obviously still bein able to fully submerge allowing for sneak artillery attacks

hey handclaw, do you have any new concepts to show us?

This gives me an idea.

There should be a sort of concept art section, with spotlights for people posting art that could be useful for other mods and inspire others to make ingame assets.

although people do this already, the media hut but mainly they reserve their own ideas of their mods. and might get nit-picky. if people decide to make derivative works from them.

but on the other hand people already allow fair use with public assests. and as long as the author is credited.



What do you guys think?
