If you want to spend you entire life making nice quality infantry, you can use SHP Builder.

Or I you want to make 'em a bit faster and high quality I prefer you to use 3D programs like GMax, Cinema 4D or 3DS Max...

EDIT: And of course, you need to learn how to use 3D programs (if you're going to use them) that usually takes 2-12 months...

Well, i use to render them frame by frame and then save them as .PNG format. Then I do some fixing with 2D programs (like resizing canvas...). And then I use SHP Builder to import them...

yup - render frame by frame - unless you have good 2D painting skills

for stuff that have not too much frames (animations, buildings) you can use a drawing software such as photoshop.

for a building you can make a sketch if you know a little how to draw. Scan it or take a picture. Then draw the *** on a new calque and colour each section with appropriate textures.
It use basic features of photoshop but being acustomed with them will allow you to create a building in only a few hours.

I would have to say that your tutorial is the most needlessly complicated thing I've read in a while. Numerous extra steps and extra programs you don't actually need.

I can show you how to get it done much faster by completely removing step 2 and merging steps 3 and 5. Possibly even speed up the render time in max depending on how you are going about it.

Poke me on MSN.

I don't use MSN. I only use the most necessary from Microsoft.
But any proposals are welcome. You can post them here or write me a pm.
