This is just how i would like the Mammoth Mk II to look like if i can have my hands on the SDK............

This Mammoth Mk II (in my mod scenario) is supposed to be a new variant which was already nearing completion when the MK II program was scrapped by GDI due to conflicting policies within the GDI bureaucracy........... 2 of this experimental units were developed on two different sites, one of which were raided by the nod and took possession of the first prototype................

The GDI will diffinitely put their hopes on the last remaining prototype in thier hands...................

btw, these are just "borrowed" models i took as platform/concept guide in creating my own version....

the colour scheme would suit a russian unit way better, you could make an alturnative mod that pitts futuristic superpowers against each other and have this as a scheme for one side.

Looks like two of the mechs from BF2142, one behind the other, (can't remember off the top of my head, as I never played it).
And looks like the textures are not changed from that.

Its an interesting concept.
Missile racks are huge, but I guess concept wise its not too bad.

It'd need to modified quite a bit to better suit GDI though.

read first post.
its a continuation of the mammoth series, not the MKII itself, just referred to as the MKII due to its mech-ness.

Haha briliant. Two L5 "Riesig" Battlewalkers combined to 1. man this thing would kick some serious butt in BF2142 ^^

It's not bad, though the rocket pods/whatever are disproportionately large. I think the original Mk.II was best described as a heavily armored, minimal protrusion giant. That is, it's a gun on legs, with not too many protruding parts to blow off (makes it one solid machine). I'd like to see the original Mk.II recreated and made available. And made BIG. I mean, like BIG. Scale big. So wasn't it like 70' tall or something? Make it taller than the Tripods by just a bit. Add in some quad railgun goodness with a front-mounted gatling gun and you're set to blow. Oh, and a grinning devil on the nose section. Smile

drop a coin in the well and make a wish....

just thinkin it over, if EALA dev guys are reading these forums and all others in the C&C mod scene. They would perhaps re-think why they scrapped those ominously important and well loved characters/units (The Mammoth Mk II, Wolverine, Titan, Disruptor, Hover MLRS, NOD Artillery, The Mutants ...etc...).... the flood of wishes in the mod scene to resurrect those guys... is quite simply put....overwhelming.

If Starcraft 2 is providing a comeback of their well loved units from the original version of starcraft.... how come EALA opted to stray so far away from the very unique C&C themed units of the old well loved original C&C?

just thinkin...

Very unlikely. A voice of one can't affect a project as a whole in EA. They bitch slap their workers lol >.> You gotta give in the fact as well that not many of these guys might be gamers themselves, so they don't know how things were in the older games.

There is that chance as well that they wanted a change of stuff, or just that maybe they thought of it but you know, re-inserting these kind of things might cause heavy imbalance in gameplay etc etc.

Many reasons really. Can't just point fingers and blame.

The Mammoth MkII was just a stupid uber unit designed to give TS a more future feel, and to give the GDI a bigger presence on the battlefield Rolling Eyes The regular Mammoth Tank would have sufficed Confused

I think that the Mammoth MkIII or IV would have to have its firepower toned down a bit, otherwise it would destroy the balance of the game Confused Even if you gave Nod and Scrin another unit to counter it, the game would turn into a race, whoever techs up and builds the unit first wins the game Laughing

I think it matches the C&C3 GDI-scheme pretty well. Looks great.

Would you share that file in .3ds format, so we can export it to voxel? I'm sure a lot of people would love it.

You will get credited for it, of cource.

Ah, the craze that I started back in 1999. Confused

I hope the people making this have a good way to get the legs not pull a Juggernaut ingame in turns and such.

It is a nice concept, but way, way overpowered. But for the balance you could make it slower for movement as example. Although, I'm pretty afraid that this will disturb the balance between those factions, but it is a nice concept to see. (although it is overpowered)

The "Concept" Mammoth Mk4 has a firepower that will seem to be overpowered if you will use it in an ordinary skirmish game (if it is not provided with a counter-unit from the three sides)....

however, all "super units" has weakpoints to be exploited.. for example;

The Mk4 will be slower than the mammoth tank in C&C3 (minus 50% in speed= Turn speed, normal terrain speed, another minus 25% in total speed values when traversing uneven terrains etc...)

The Mk4 has a combat effectiveness when used in conjunction with a spotter unit (Sniper) through a "Shared Line of Site" using its extended Rocket Artillery range- Hence, no spotter = no extended artillery barrage...

The Mk4 Anti-Air Artillery has a very limited range (50% less than the GDI AA platform). The extended AA weapon range will only be enabled if you have constructed a "Radar Facility" and has acquired the "Satellite Target Acquisition" upgrade

The Mk4 "Dual Gatlings" has a fire rate similar to that of the GDI APC in a dual state. Its combat effectiveness against RPG/AT Missile equipped Infantry is reduced by its limited arc of fire and slow turn rate and facing constraints...

The Mk4 "Quad Rail Gun" has a potent destructive capability equivalent to two mammoth tanks firing simultaneously their dual rail guns. Its combat efectiveness is likewise hindered by the fact that it cannot fire at a heavy armor unit flanking it while it is being kept busy by squads of infantry at the front and sides....

The plus factors making this "Super Heavy Unit" really great is its Hitpoints and armor (tough as in 4 times the HP of a mammoth tank).... and its capacity/ability to "TRAMPLE" ANYTHING in its path (Infantry, tanks, walls and even structures....). Ever imagine how nice it will be to see this monster walk through a building?........

Pretty good, altough not as good considering it's a modified model from another game. Would fit GDI well, imo (more TS GDI than TW GDI), but it would first require a new texture. Could you release it? It looks as a good base for modification to make Open TS Mammoth MK II.
