Jonwil has found a critical bug in the recently released mod SDK. If you have a non-english windows where the decimal separator is a comma or anything else than a fullstop, your mod SDK will have problems to compile your XML files. This is my case, with a brazilian windows where comma is the decimal separator. Here's his words on it:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"If you are running a foriegn language version of windows (e.g. French) or for any other reason have the windows decimal separator set to something other than a fullstop (e.g. a comma) and then try to modify and recompile certain parts of the XML (e.g. certain items in weapon.xml), you may see an error from the compiler that says "System.FormatException: Input string was not in a correct format" or something similar.

To fix this, you can open control panel. Then select "regional and language options". Then press "Customize". Then change the decimal symbol to a fullstop. Be aware however that this may affect other software on your system that created data using a comma as the decimal separator.

The other option is to wait for a fix from EA (if one ever shows up)
Feel free to post this on other forums (especially foriegn language forums)"

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's natural that EA wouldn't test it in a foreign windows. But this bug does not allow people without administrative powers on foreign windows to run the Build Tool. And it can be really annoying for those with foreign windows with administrative powers as well.

Discuss it HERE.

How is it "natural" that EA wouldn't test its mod SDK in foreign Windows? They released TW all over the world, and as far as I know, the SDK is ment for all of the community. Most importantly, the patches are released in different languages as well.

This isn't "natural". It's just another example of EA releasing a half-assed product. The community was demanding the promised mod support, so they just put something together that'd hopefully please the majority. Then they forgot uploading world builder, foreign countries, but hey, who cares? We released the SDK, we're out of debt... Rolling Eyes

Well these things happen, all EA can do is fix it and update the SDK. There is no point making assumptions about how EA conducts its practices, I'm pleased enough that EA is making an effort to support modding in the first place.
