Subject description: Patch your 3ds2vxl to 0.479b with Icy GUI now!
Reply with quote  Mark this post and the followings unread

I've created yet another patch for 3ds2vxl 0.479 that fixes up the GUI and includes the SDL dlls that allow the program to run.

Download 3ds2vxl 0.479 here. If you don't already have it.
Download 3ds2vxl 0.479b GUI Patch here.

This patch supports updating from these versions to 0.479b:
0.3
0.47a
0.479
0.479a

Extract the patch to your 3ds2vxl directory and run it to install.

Really, you could have just made it so you tell it where the directory is.
It seems to be scanning everywhere except the folder I've actually got 3ds2vxl in, it's gone onto my D drive when it should be looking in C:\C&C Tools

Edit: Correction, it's failed to find it at all.

Yes it fails, but if you put the patch in the 3ds2vxl directory it will work.

Let me quote myself. This is in the first post.

Clear enough now?

I did exactly that and it failed.

Copied both .zips to my 3ds2vxl folder, extracted them both to there and ran the patch.

Edit: Was fixed by deleting the previous versions files and trying again.

There are some minor bugs with the updated GUI that I will be correcting later today. The 0.479b patch will work on both 0.479 and 0.479a versions.

IcySon55 you haven't made the checkbox lines all the same height as each other. also the input output at the top are mislabelled because the lines are actually input, output, input, output.

and it's not SCALAR!!!!!

a scalar is a single number which is used to multiply to multiple other numbers which fits in this case but it is not specific enough because it doesn't connote that it affects the model's scale which is its size. model scalar is like saying model multiplier and what on earth does that mean.

what did you mean you allowed it to run? i hope you are referring to the fact i didn't package in the necessary SDL DLLs. btw Judeau had made a rar file of all the DLLs. you unzip it somewhere and then click the batch file and it copies all the DLLs to the windows system folder, then you can delete the folder you initially unzipped to. since you need these DLLs to get Judeau's programs to work on your computer as well as other programs, it makes sense to have one copy of these files that get used by multiple programs instead of multiple copies of these files all over your computer's hard disk. one of the main purposes of DLLs is to reduce program code redundancy.

btw i'd like to remind everyone that a voxel dot distance of 1.0 looks better in the viewers coz it stops cube overlapping and 0.7 looks better in the game because it stops gaps.

If I didn't know about the mistakes, why would I announce a second patch? Confused

For the record: (Dictionary.com)
Code:
scal·er - scaler
-noun
1. a person or thing that scales.
2. Also called counter, scaling circuit. Electronics. an electronic circuit devised to give a single pulse as output after a certain number of input pulses.

Code:
sca·lar - scalar
-adjective
1. representable by position on a scale or line; having only magnitude: a scalar variable.
2. of, pertaining to, or utilizing a scalar.
3. ladderlike in arrangement or organization; graduated: a scalar structure for promoting personnel.
–noun
4. Mathematics, Physics. a quantity possessing only magnitude. Compare vector (def. 1a).

Which one makes sense to you guys? It's obviously scalar in this case.

yah it looks nice, and believe me i like things to look pretty but the GUI editor i have is so annoying to use that i can't stand wasting my time in it.

so anyway, since IcySon55 made it use themes does it look different on all your different computers? btw is it possible to make the whole thing dark and make all the text glow? and i don't mean just make it a bright color i mean actually glow as in spill over into neighbouring pixels.

All the effects you mention depend on the windows theme of the user. If you made them yourself, the program would look the same on all computers. But IMHO, tool programs should never have custom GUIs. Tools always simply use the XP/Vista theming. Looks more professional that way.

The patcher has been updated and now supports patching from version 0.3 and 0.47a to the latest.
