Rise of the Forgotten (CNC3 MOD)
I have started on a new MOD for CNC3
I hated the fact that the only mutants where the muradures.
so I have been working on this MOD "Rise of the Forgotten"
it takes place 3 years before the arrival of the Scrin.
sry Scrin your being replaced.
I haven't worked the entire storyline yet. ( im playing through TS again to make sure all my facts are straight.)
But though I have just started I have already ran into some snags.
1. I can't seem to get anything in or out of CNC3
2. I suck at textures
3. my computer is to slow to make maps ( it takes 15-20 min to open World Builder)
4. I suck at makeing infantry
5. my computer can't handle the shaders I need in 3DSMax.
So, needless to say, I need help, and I was hopeing someone would like to help out with "Rise of the Forgotten"
I need people who can:
Code
Texture
Make infantry
Make Maps
and finaly
understand crazy Ideas
that should be all,
see you at the frontline. _________________ "we must do everything possible to do the Impossible QUICK_EDIT

its mod not MOD. Its a noun. acronyms like GDI and USSR get capitals. Not MOD. _________________ PPM's Reichstrollfuherer, 236th Trollenparties brigade. QUICK_EDIT

it must be a really bad "mod" idea, if all you comment on is the why i spell mod. _________________ "we must do everything possible to do the Impossible QUICK_EDIT

It sounds terribly unoriginal, like a TS mod only not on TS, to be honest. It doesnt sound very exciting, the thought of playing as a crappy little rag tag team we've seen so much of in the series.
Hmm, Carno, i would not say boring... but needs to be worked on a lot. Also, i recommend you at least have something to show people before you go around asking for people to help you, people will only help if they see a potential bases visual and concept wise. QUICK_EDIT
Dont take it too hard mate, One of my mods thats still in the making has taken me over 2 years to think up. Look at the community and see which mods are being made and see if you can think/make a mod that will get pple interested. QUICK_EDIT
You bascally have kind of a vauge plan for a bland new side, and you'd have to gather a team to even get it off the ground because you admit to being able to do nearly nothing for the mod.
Sounds like a real winner... Right. _________________
yea ok, its vague and there is almost 0% progress, probably a bit fast with the idea, but the point that forgotten should have a greater appearance is nice, and leaves room for a good mod and context, he is just a bit early to public this stuff and should work on his stuff to show something and explain points.
and ol' carno just hates every fact of tiberian sun and replies in every stupid topic even if its totally unrelated how much it sucks, that is kind of nerve penetrating. _________________ Hydraw Art on Facebook QUICK_EDIT

Blubb, you like baiting me, dontcha.
You'll hate my second project aside from 1.5 then, but anyways. Just because its 'vauge and no progress' doesnt make it possible to be good. The guy has no clue on what the hell he is going to do with the faction(he has NO idea, nobody has an idea, on what this team was like at all, except some posts from an irritated Ishmael who's obviously sick of C&C questions.), They used old GDI and Nod equipment in TS anyways. Its like making a mod about that stupid cult in TS. Nevermind, the guy HAS no team, self stated he has no abilities. This mod will go as far as you can throw Premier Romanov.
nowhere.
Why do it? Make a new, unique story like Novus Ordo or something. This is such a good engine and half of the modders are going to take talent and waste it doing TS, YR,TD,RA remakes, that will look good, but, tell the story the exact same way, do nothing new with it, at all. Sofar Red Europe looks like the only promising C&C3 mod IMO. _________________ PPM's Reichstrollfuherer, 236th Trollenparties brigade. QUICK_EDIT
just stop bashing TS in every threat you find, then i'll be happy, there are still people wich like to play it.
well he probably has an idea why else playing through the TS/FS missions again to get facts?
and about to scrap techs from nod and GDI, that'll be cheesy, there's just to find a style
without an idea he wouldn't have come here, he just can't realize it, thats another point.
but to revive the forgotten in cnc 3 is a nice idea, and i'm hoping ppl who else want to realize it perhaps, chose a better solution than bazooka cavemens... _________________ Hydraw Art on Facebook QUICK_EDIT

Carno your right, I do suck at most things, but within my weakness is my strength, and yes, I plan on useing some old tech for the forgotten.
I think this is much better than my other mod, "Chaos Realm", people can understand this one.
anyways, here are some "basic models" I have.

The textures on the units look awful. All of the units look like hunks of stone, to be honest. _________________ PPM's Reichstrollfuherer, 236th Trollenparties brigade. QUICK_EDIT

sry, I don't own Renegade (yet), so if you want, could you send me some good textures, just post them here, and I will see what I can do.
also, sry for the lack of detail, I am teaching myself how to make models, and the only class I have taken is one in high school last year, and in there we didn't have to make our own textures, hint, one reason i suck at textures. and yes I'm working on getting better, but it is hard when I don't have a program to make them. Adobe is out of my price range, so if anyone knows of a good free program, i'm all ears.
but back on topic, I am working on structures now and trying to find the right design, but the only building I have to work with is the Mutant Huval (sry if I misspelled it), so if anyone has Ideas, I would love to hear them.

Well, the mutant hovel, according to canon, was manufactured by GDI as a gift to the forgotten...so, it may not be the best thing to use for design. I'd say, go with something patchworky. Something like GLA meets Tiberium. No mosque domes or shit, though. But the general idea of GLA Buildings:
See Fallout, Half-Life 2, Stalker for inspiration about the Forgotten.
They are pretty much the postapocalyptic people left out there.
For a good free 2D program take GIMP, for 3D, Blender.
GIMP is easy and very similar to Photoshop, Blender is a different story, but it's excellent once you learn it. _________________ Time will tell...

Also check out IVI work here at PPM. His designs hit the feeling of what Carnotaurus is talking about. take the time to research more ideas though. because one can fall into cliches and make seemingly interesting things rather boring. _________________ Delirium.. QUICK_EDIT

My Idea for the Forgotten Strategy is that the are always on the move, so I am trying to make their building look like they could be built fast and be able to be taken down in a moments notice.
as for their units, I am trying to make most of the unit low tech, of course, to go with my story line, there will be some interesting high tech units also.
as for the story line, I'm still working on it, but this what I have so far.
"...After the second Tiberian War, GDI abandoned the Forgotten after they had everything they needed from the Tacidus. it was true that the Forgotten believed Kane, they where the next generation of mankind, they just didn't believe Kane was the one to lead them.
So they slowly started to hide themselves underground, building their own force that would be able to sweep through the land and lead their people into their new age, but they would have to be able to defeat both GDI and NOD forces, so in preparations, they started to take scientists from both factions. They would be ready when the time came.
With the scientists, they started to better understand their mutations and understand Tiberium itself. They slowly started to utilize the tiberium in ways nether NOD or GDI could.
They were able to create everything from tiberian bullets, to the marvel of a Titanium/Tiberium Alloy, a new armor metal that was even stronger than the armor system on the feared Mammoth Tank. But do to the rarety of titanium this new alloy would only be used on they forgottens more powerful units..."
-June 26th, 2049-
The Forgotten strikes several NOD and GDI bases around southern Asia. they quickly start to head north through China.
-June 27th, 2049-
Forgotten Military strikes a GDI base in the Nevada Yellow Zone, and start spreading through the Western United States.
Do to the speed at which the Forgotten striked, with in a week, they held 20% of the worlds Yellow zones.
Thats all I have right now, I'll post more, as soon as I write it. _________________ "we must do everything possible to do the Impossible QUICK_EDIT

Forgotten Units
here is the list of units for the Forgotten
Infantry--
Raider Squads-Basic Infantry
The Raiders make up the majority of the Mutants force, they are mostly non-mutants that live in the yellow zones, and believe that the Forgotten will help them bring peace to the world, they only fight out of hope that the Forgotten will bring peace.
Upgrades-
Tiberian Rounds (Tech Lab) +75% damage to infantry
Enemies Weakness (captured Barracks) +150% damage to infantry
Vehical Blueprints (Captured Warfactory) Hijacking
Defender Squads-Missile Infantry
Like the Raiders, Defender Squads are made up of mostly non-mutants who are fighting for the Forgotten in hopes that they can bring peace to the war-torn Yellow Zones.
Upgrades-
Automated Rocket Pods (Tech Lab) deployable forward defences
Mine Field (Weapons Bunker)
Technician-Engineer/Spy
Unlike the Engineers of GDI and NOD, Technicians don't capture the enemies structures, they go in and upload all the information they can off of the structures mainframe, and sends the information back to the Mutants base, with the new information, commanders can better prepare for battles. Technician can still repair bridges and structures.
Assualt Squads-Heavy Infantry
Assualt squads are made up of soley Mutant combatants, These heavy infantry are bent on returning order to the yellow zones, they despise both GDI and NOD for abandoning them in their time of need.
Upgrades-
Foxholes (Weapons Bunker)
Tiberian Rounds (Tech Lab)
Elite-Commando
the Elite was once a GDI commando, but during one of his missions, he started to develop the tiberian mutation, when his commanding Officer descoverd this, he shot him and then left him for dead, The Elite will do what ever it takes to destroy the GDI, just as it had destroyed him, as for NOD, the Elite believes they should be wiped from the face of the earth for their lies and false promises that they made to his Mutant brothers.
Phantom Squads(for lack of a better name)-Stealthed infantry
The phantoms are a elite group of Mutant combatants, they have mastered stealth techneques and can evade all but the most alert soldier.
Mercenary-Heavy Infantry
When commanders needs a job done fast, they call in the Mercenaries. The "Mercs" are a group that will get in, do their job, get out, no matter the cost.
Upgrades-
Tiberian Rounds (Tech Lab)
-Vehicals-
Junker-Scout
The Junker is usualy a salvaged truck with a HMG in the back.
Upgrades-
Tiberian Rounds (Tech Lab)
Salvaged Armor (Salvage Yard)
Advenger-Light Tank
the Advenger was designed to take on the GDI's Predator
It carryies high yeld Tiberian rounds and can be upgraded with a rocket pod.
upgrades-
rocket pod (Weapons Bunker)
Salvaged armor (Salvage Yard)
IFV-transport
The forgotten needed a vehical that could both carry infantry and allow them to fight from within.
Upgrades-
Salvaged armor (Salvage Yard)
Harvester
After the second Tiberian War, both GDI and NOD abandoned their harvesters for newer designs, the Forgotten where able to salvage the older Harvesters.
Champion-Heavy Tank
The Champion Heavy Tank was made to be able to take on the NOD laser defences, the Champion carryies the Thor Weapon System
MLRS-Ranged delivery system
The Forgotten needed a weapon that could strike from a distance,
what better way then an ol' MLRS.
SwordsEdge-SuperHeavy Tank
The SwordsEdge is the pride of the Forgotten, it is the only Unit that incorperates the Titanium/Tiberium Alloy Armor system. It also packs two Missile Pods, and an autoloading Triple Gun System.
upgrades-liquid-T Warheads (Tech Lab)
Salvaged Titan-Mech Unit
After the second Tiberian War many of GDI's Titan mechs went missing, the Forgotten had salvaged them and had utilized in their initial attacks.
upgrades-liquid-T Warheads (Tech Lab)
-Aircraft-
Striker-Reacon/Light Assualt
The Striker was designed for sudden attacks. It carryies a limited amount of rocket, and dual HMG's to take out infantry.
upgrades-
Tiberian Rounds (Tech Lab)
Inforcer-Heavy Assualt
The Inforcer is called in when the ground forces are pinned down, with HMG's, a 85mm cannon, and limited Rockets, it was designed to turn the tides.
That should be all of them.

Barracks, firstly..
It looks like a Japanese Starlet who just had a bukkake with a visceroid. Remove that Tiberium on it, it looks like shit. The building was just deployed from a construction yard, yes, but there is no reason for it to be covered in Tiberi-AIDS.
The logo looks...uninteresting, to say the least. Its a F in the Superman shield, and its mint green. You can do
much better I hope. =| _________________ PPM's Reichstrollfuherer, 236th Trollenparties brigade. QUICK_EDIT
but its too "perfect" and square, hard edges.wanna chamfer those.btw
anyways...try something more gritty, or punkish,. take the anarchy "A" for example
..something that appears hand drawn, or like a paint stroke maybe some sigils or symbols...but more on the lines of graffiti art... you want it to be representative of what they look and feel. it appears more like a corporate logo than some downtrodden faction. _________________ Delirium.. For some reason, when I think of the name "The Forgotten", I think of British mutants
