My first voxel, It isn't anything special, but I reckon it's not too bad (please shoot me with tanya's pistols if I'm wrong, it'll make the world a better place and slightly lessen the job of answering Newb topics for everybody).

Pic will follow, accidentally made it a Bitmap... what a fool I can be...

I designed it as a replacement for the grizzly, as I think after the great WWII the allies would have learned the importance of the medium tank and built an upgraded version for years to come.

if a first voxel, that's GOOD shit man, good! I suspect you have been sneeking around and read comments, 'cos you have some texture, it's not a shoebox, good normals and remap (maby to little, but I like to much of everything :p)
Other than that you have splitted the turret and barrle, so it tilts nicely ingame. And speaking on wich, NEVER post an ingame wiht compressed jpg, use png or noncomressed jpg, og? Smile

But it's not perfect, the belts need some work.
Also, the hull is still a bit like a shoebox, no much, but it is Rolling Eyes

If this is your truely first voxel, we can expect good things from you in the future Wink

If you want it to look exactly like a cromwell...

Keep the top of the body flat, then make it dip close to the front.
Cut away the sides of the body so they don't cover the treads. (Also doing his would make the tank look less chunky.)
The turret of a cromwell is taller then how you have it now.
Cut out a bit more between the treads and the body on the front. To make this more obvious ingame darken the edges of the tank slightly.

I got to tell you is this is a hell of a lot better than my first voxel!

It isn't a "real-deal" cromwell, imagine that the WWII tank never existed (which it didn't in RA) and that some Designer in a British/Allied research center deceided to name the new tank he was designing after that guy who overthrew theking back in the 1600s.

This isn't 100% my first Voxel, I've messed around a little in the past and I've been playing around with that hidden allied light tank for a while now.

And Dupl3xxx, it was originally the 2tnk (medium one), I resized it, allied camoed it (first through Pal pack then with the tools-replace colours option when it came our as a snow schemed tank... I've also added some more detail, new turret hatches, better looking exhaust vents, thinned out the Gun Barrel from an Oak tree to a tank gun, did some experimenting with AN until I deceided on AN7.7 and 2 (smooth).

I still think the turret's too small and the body's too high... ah well, fix that at the weekend. Got an Extra GCSE class after school today then I have to do my RS homework.

Then Maybe I can fine-tune my TD/RA1 Bradley-style light tank, the turret on that is too big though.

The New version, adds more remap, fixes the tracks, adds another MG on the turret, puts it and a slightly older (by minutes) version in a .RAR file; Enjoy.

More Feedback! I want to get this spotlighted eventually!!!

EDIT: LOL, I think GUFU voted on my poll... guess which answer?

do the texture in MORE than one collor, and make the edges a bit lighter/darker
And it's looking dead from behind Wink
And maby make it a bit darker?

The texture looks fine to me, it just needs some good normals.

I cann't agree, the texture on the hull is only in two collors, and I think that's a bit low Confused But it's the creators dessission, not mine. And yes some good normals can make a 6/10 voxel to a 9/10 voxel! Laughing

Ok so better normals, (had to do a little manual work to get rid of some black spots on the lower front), more detail on back and another texture colour on hull and turret?

what normals setting would everybody suggest or do I do some manual work?

Work will commence at 17:00 GMT (got some s**t to sort out first).

Thanks for the help guys, if it takes me a year this is going in the spotlight section!!!

And thanks for the good word Renegangsta, I made the first screen a bitmap so I couldn't upload it...

It's quite sexi. I like.

I'd suggest making the front slope down a bit to the front, and same with the turret, but it's nice anyways.

lol, he knows I know, I'm sorting out the s**t on a school PC now so the new version might arrive quicker, anyway I think it needs more variation. I'll post two versions, one with AN7.7 on 3 and then AN7.7 , other then 4

The new edition will be tomorrow, my friend's PC won't run VXLSE III's 3d viewer, so I can't edit it here...

NVM, I need a break anyway

Lol, Triple-post... I haven't been able to get to my PC recently but whilst playing around with VXLSE I discovered you can do stuff from more than one perspective! I know you guys probably use this regularly but it's completely new to me, however whilst you'll have to wait a while for a version with greater variation on colour I am going to release the version with better normals.

It's the one in the pic with the V3, IFV and battle fortress.
Enjoy!
