Well, I don't know about naval units in TS, it seems to be *kind of* possible.
If you can figure how to make them work, just make a cloakable one. That's all you can do.

you can also give them a given armor so that only certain weapons can affect them

I think not even ships are possible, because TS doesn't has a Water MovementZone. So Subs aren't possible too.

With SpeedType=float you can only make the unit very slow (speed=0%) on land, but can't forbid it to drive on land.

Yeah, ships are certainly possible as i have made two of them so far...
I was just wandering if there was somesort of workaround to get a submarine.
Are there any engine modifications available that could allow the creation of submarines?

fortunately, the TS engine supports this tag:

MovementRestrictedTo=

putting 'water' as the value should make it water bound.

What about make a invisible ship? RA1 and RA2 Does make subs invisible. (if I remember right.)

what if you combine
MovementRestrictedTo=water
SpeedType=subterannean
Cloakable=yes

then it can dive deep under water with subterranean, it can still drive stealthed under water and it can only drive on water.
Ok with subterranean it can drive between lakes without having a connection between them, but you can say that this is a special feature.
I haven't tested this. Maybe it works.

Ingenious, and scary.
You'd also have the drill animation playing every time you move.

Nice idea though. But if you removed the subterranean movement, you'd have all the basic tags you'd need for a submarine in TS.
