Where is the TFD patch 1.03?
Subject description: EA is milking money again... so quick!
EA APOC has recently released a press release of another package of C&C games that EA will release, which includes TFD with C&C3. I personally refuse to go into details about this package, which is currently quite offensive to the C&C community, at least until some critical problems from The First Decade get fixed. While I do appreciate many things that the EALA studio did in the last months for us fans, it is always good to remind that I am a C&C fan and a customer as well as many visitors of this site. We fans deserve some respect, afterall we are paying for it. Unfortunatelly, the support given for The First Decade was a major disappointment for any C&C fan.
Last month, the celebration of the 12th anniversary and the release of C&C 95 as abandonware was a marketing stunt to sell this new package of C&C games in the end of october. The same kind of trick was made with The First Decade, back in 2005, where EA sponsored the C&C 10th Anniversary organized by the CNCNZ guys.
The First Decade package fails on many aspects. The XP/Vista support from Red Alert 1 and Command & Conquer 95 is completely unstable with constant crashes and it has no LAN/internet support. The use of different executables, most of them either incompatible with the CD versions of the game or no-cd cracked versions of the C&C games already caused too much problems for modders by rendering certain mods incompatible with TFD and causing problems for community projects such as Rock Patch, ETS, etc...
Anyway, since this new package will feature The First Decade and C&C3, do not expect TFD problems fixed any time soon. So, if you have the original games, there is no reason to spend a single cent in this package. If you are desesperate to get a C&C game that you don't have, we recommend Amazon.com or E-Bay, since the original games causes much less headaches than The First Decade.
Ahh... they've also released the box art of it... but who cares? Have a good day!
In a short note: Few days ago, I said in a recent news that after october 1st (and then october 3rd) you wouldn't be able to download TD legally anymore, but I totally missed the point. You won't be able to download it from EA servers because the download exploded their bandwidth, but downloading it from other places is still legal. OK, so it was not a scam, but still, it was just as lame as some of the EA promotions and promises we bitch about here on the fourms. 'PPM will be revolutionized', and all we got was a little measly pack of RA2 screenshots that are up on IGN and CNC Source for God's sakes! It was disappointing for me, considering Banshee's ability(but he is busy, of course...). I have all the originals, plus the TFD, and now the downloaded CnC95. The only reason I got the TFD is because I found it unopened at a Salvage Store for a buck fifty. The only way I would buy another compilation is if they add skirmish to CnC95. Which means never. lol

Oh, it might be possible to add Skirmish, using rockpatch-like hacks... but since the C&C1 AI has an IQ of about -5 the enemy player would still not do a single freaking thing, so it's kinda useless :p

That's some pretty harsh anti-EA stuff, Banshee. Watch it or they might not invite you to one of their community summits which is basically just a ploy to get you guys to report news on EA's newest C&C titles so all your little site frequenters go out and buy it.
Trust me, EA is not our friend. Their employees are not our friends. Hell, most of em probably aren't even C&C fans. Remember that next time Apoc posts something. He doesn't even like C&C, especially old C&C.

I agree with Carnotaurus in that the new CnC's are nice for those of use who one love the RTS genre of games or are just fans of CnC it self regardless of who makes it. But remember you don't have the right to wine if you have not gotten the object in question first, man I remember when CnC 3 was first anounced personally I felt that it was going to be another fun game to play and you know what even if i cant play the game with High detail or online it still is fun. That is the end of my rant...

well, I bought C&C Collection several years ago, however I had to spend about 50$ on it.
I had to buy it through some weird internet store. First, it is bought in US and delivered to their Russian storages. Then they greatly raise its price and sell it to customers like myself. I overpaid it several times, but I don't regret it now.
For some really unknown reason, no C&C games except Tiberium Wars were officially published in Russia, Westwood somehow were unable to get an agreement with any of our publishers...
I won't buy this saga or whatever it is. I simply don't need it at all.
When the addon will be released, I'll just get a copy of it and check singleplayer... QUICK_EDIT
