@RLY_BIG_TANK: yeah; sorry about that... (scratches back of neck and looks away sheepishly) it's just on the schemaitcs he linked too the cockpit was as long as the whole rest of the body; and as we all know the bigger the jet engine the greater th thrust (due to a larger compression chamber etc) so if it's very small I may exaggerate and say it has the same power as a household vacuum cleaner. However the "What in the hell's name do you want that for?" bit might have been a bit ovet the top there...

I just answered my own question by looking the plane up on wikipedia and seeing that it's a light attack aircraft and trainer; which explains the low engine size and large cockpit; you don't wanna give a new pilot a MIG 29 to crash because he can't see where he's going (which he will because he can't handle it yet).

czech L-159 ALCA - subsonic fighter, successor of the L-39/59 Albatros
Although it's slightly subsonic, it can fly away from a guided AA rocket (doesn't need so long trajectory to turn)
and it's dangerous like A-10 Warthog (Warthog is better on heavy armored ground targets).

Russian answer - MiG-AT
Similar, isn't it?

@Tratos "Don't the Red Arrows fly these?" no, they don't it's romanian, they fly the Folland Gnat aircraft.

They do look quite alike, however, I reckon this one's better than the IAR-99 (produced 20-30 years before and just as good).
