Anyway, it's time to compensate this problem with, probably the biggest community roundup in the site history, featuring every cool news I could figure out in this month. To make things easier for me, I'll separate them by sites/communities, instead of topics. So, here's the deal:
-----------------------------Sites RoundUp--------------------
Planet CnC:
W3bbo/Ghorkov was one of the invited webmasters to the latest Kane's Wrath Community Summit and, of course, he brought a lot of information and goodies from it.
-> David Silverman shows the BattleCast Primetime recording set. That's a nice part of the summit where they could record and show where and how Battle Cast Primetime is done. And why the Drew guy from Aftermath always bring a new girl to the show.
-> Ghorkov has some nice pictures of the Summit as well. Worth checking out, to find out how some of your favourite C&C webmasters look like.
-> Chrono101 has written an article about Tiberium, based on the Game Informer information. For those who can't have Game Informer subscription (like me), it is a nice source of information for the upcoming game, Tiberium.
-> Street Fight, a new map for C&C3 made by Chrono101, is available. Chrono is a nice mapper, as far as I could see his OMC4 submission. Unfortunately, I can't talk about it yet.
CNCDEN
CNCDEN is a nice site to stay tuned with the latest community news. Sometimes, they also released some interesting maps like the most recent one from DaRkAlEx called Winding Rivers. DaRkAlEx is a great mapper and was one of the ZH judges from OMC3. It's worth checking it out.
CNCNZ.com
CNCNZ (the Z reads 'Zed') has been quite active in this month, with both Hypnotist and Sonic posting a lot of new features and a constant flow of news.
-> The static "I don't move" CNCNZ's guru Zee Hypnotist has made the first CNCNZ's Video Podcast. He talks about Tiberium and the latest community news and CNCNZ things.
-> The Roundtable Discussion #3 features Sonic, Zee Hypnotist, Koen from TibEd, Mastermind from Revora/CnC3.Net (who also happened to work on the C&C3 mod SDK), Blbpaws from CnC Generals World, Mighty Bob from CnC Source, JohnWe from CnC Files and Lion from CNCDEN. They talk about patch 1.09, Kane's Wrath, EALA modding support and even the new (and unknown at that moment) game Tiberium. The movie they talk on question 3 had a little bit made for the game Tiberium.
-> Nyerguds has submitted some N64 C&C missions made for C&C95/TD. Fun time guaranteed.
Command & Conquer: Filefront
This was an inspired month for JohnWE and his gang, specially because he could visit EALA again, in this community summit. And we've got to know an excellent C&C rapper as well. Perharps, he still the biggest C&C fan in the world, because if it depends on the height of his body, he is definitely the biggest (I meet him in person an year ago).
[SPOTLIGHTED] -> Forget GameSpot, IGN and this pile of crap. The big and best source of information about Kane's Wrath is JohnWE. He wrote a complete article about the game, covering the story, gameplay, all faction units, superpowers and even the tactics from each map. Brillant article. Whatever you'll find on GameSpot further articles, I'm sure it is already written in this one. Definitely a must see source for all your Kane's Wrath news.
-> JohnWE actually got to rap out and loud at this big hit called 'Owned in 3'. Nice movie, although some scenes are kinda repetitive. And the public look odly for some freak rapping out of nowhere. Worth watching it! Nice job, John
GameReplays
GameReplays had also a representant at the KW Summit. Of course, the guy wrote some articles. There were some random articles posted there as well.
-> DarkMogulKing has came to the KW Summit and posted an article about his experience there. This first article was written before the NDA expired, so information about Kane's Wrath was limited there.
-> The same DarkMogulKing now wrote a full article about the Kane's Wrath with no limitations from any NDA. It's an interesting article from the competitive multiplayer point of view.
-> And there is a random article from AgmLauncher about how to ballance a game and how to find if a unit is overpowered or underpowered. Interesting thing for modders as well, since ballance is one of the support pillars from any decent mod.
CnC Saga
I'm gonna be brief and short on this one, because my french is poor. Tchuch, the webmaster, was one of the invited webmasters to the KW Summit. He was the first to show the logos from all subfactions. He has a nice summit writeup describing all his experience there, as well as the expansion for C&C3. He has also posted some (not sure if it is more than one) movies from the summit. There is a lot of exclusive material. If your french is good enough, it is worth checking it out.
CnC Vision:
Jeff could visit EALA studios again, this time for the KW Summit and, of course, he wrote a nice report from it, which you can start reading HERE. It's great to see that EALA is taking a lot of fan feedback into the game.
DeeZire.net:
DeeZire is back online recently, after being hacked some months ago. They've finally (really, bout time) removed the bogused PHP Nuke that made them be defaced so many times.
-----------------------------Mods RoundUp--------------------
ModDB: Mod Of The Year:
While none of the mods hosted on PPM made up to the ModDB Top 100, some interesting C&C mods from other communities made up to the list. PPM supports the following ones:
-> Asylum (Command & Conquer 3 - Unreleased)
-> Tiberian Sun Rising (Command & Conquer 3 - Unreleased)
Both mods are very high quality material made by very skilled people. One comes with a new story that may remind you Halo (but, no, it's not Halo because of the Cease and Desist letter from Microsoft). Tiberian Sun Rising brings the Tiberian Sun universe back to C&C3. I won't be surprised if Tiberian Sun: Rising actually looks better than Kane's Wrath.
If you are able to vote on other mods than there, choose one of the mods/indie games below, which are also top notch material:
-> Cold War Crisis (Zero Hour - Unreleased)
-> Vietnam: Glory Obscured (Zero Hour - Unreleased)
-> Middle East Crisis 2 (C&C 3 - Unreleased)
-> Tiberian Dawn (C&C3 - Unreleased)
-> CnC Reborn (Indie Games - Unreleased)
-> Red Alert: A Path Beyond (Indie Games - Released)
ShockWave
The version 0.95 has been released with an an absurd list of changes. The main feature are the new generals for USA, China and GLA. The game was heavily balanced and many exploits were fixed as well. Download it HERE. If you like the mod, vote for them on ModDB as well, under Zero Hour - Released.
An Act Of War
The beta version 1.5 of the mod has been released to public after being nearly untouched for about two years. They expect some feedback with it. They've actually made progress since 2005, but this progress isn't available for public yet. This total conversion for Zero Hour is somewhat inspired in the current technology, except that their future is more doomed than our current reality, since North Korea is in the battlefield as well, instead of just USA and Iraq.
Red Alert: A Path Beyond
There is a new version of this mod available, which properly balances the game, fix bugs, exploits. It's a must have for all fans from A Path Beyond. For those who doesn't know it, APB is a standalone free FPS game (doesn't require Renegade) which brings the universe of Red Alert. It's a very fun game for multiplayer. You can download it HERE (unfortunately Revora cannot mirror it this time, due to bandwidth limits). If you like it, vote for them on ModDB.
Vietnam: Glory Obscured
They've released a new gameplay video of their mod. Check it out!
Tiberian Dawn:
Tiberian Dawn had a lot of updates in this month, including models, 12 musics from NeptuneUK and much more in the recent blogs.
Middle East Crisis 2
MEC 2 had some new units revealed. But the big thing was a lost beta of MEC1 for Zero Hour that they've released to public. It comes with some interesting easter eggs, where you can even play with Michael Jackson. Oh man! That should scare any enemy. You can download it and a make a mod out of it, with proper credits of course.
NPatch Autumn Edition
NPAE has recently been released, after almost being out of schedule (you know, nearly winter for the north hemisphere) and, right after that, VK already released the revision #0009. NPatch adds inumerous modding features for your YR. This version comes with 200 unit limit for AI removed, fourth, fifth and sixth new side support. The latest revision fixes a filename issue for new factions.
And after almost 3 hours writing news and browsing a lot of C&C sites, I think it's time to stop. If I forgot any news, please, point out. If you think I forgot any EA news like Aftermath 4, then read the title again... it is community news.
