Well, I toyed around with the lighting for about 4 hours, and played with the textures, although texturing is proving to be hardcore bitchy.

But, it's whatever. If you'd like, you can use it as a desktop background.

It's the Veyron class assault frigate. I know, I know, the texture isn't pretty, but keep in mind this is my second model, and I've really been toying with it, as I don't yet know my way around 3ds max.

The first model had well in excess of 100 shapes... this one has I believe less than 20 (not counting the small engines)

It's a lot more professional than my previous model. My previous was just a bunch of shapes jumbled together.

too dark. I mean I can understand your lighting setup here but all your work (3d model) is being obscured in the dark...whats the render time on this?

maybe add some or one weaker light source behind it to emulate bounce light.I know its outer space..blah.

It doesn't seem your using ray-traced shadows or a skylight. but try it out? see if you like the results.

a hint for the engines:
put a light source behind them, open the atmosphere & effects menu down in the light properties. add a new volume light.
adjust the Near and Far attenuation of the light source to limit the range of the light.
Then you have some nice glowing engines.
You can now also change the color and many other things of the volume light, if you select the volume light in the "atmosphere & effects" menu and click on setup.

this way you can also do some nice alpha images for TS/RA2 Wink

haha, for Alpha Images in TS it's ALOT easier just to do it in photoshop. Then I have full control over every pixel. Smile
