I am legend
finally i had time to watch the movie as it was later over here and i didn't had time when it was in the cinemas until yet.
well what can i say, i love post apocalyptical movies, those who expect a 0815 zombie movie are particular wrong with the whole story.
there are 3 films of the book from 1950's out there , and i still love the second one, the omega man from 1972's the most.
Will smith's version was slightly crippled from the story tough ...the mutants couldn't speak and were primitive, that shouldn't have been this rips apart key scenes.
None then less i expected hollywood disaster in the movie but i was wrong, the movie had still not much of blood and zombie slaughter - none of that, it was full of emotions for me, there were parts i nearly started to cry a few tears, i don't like to spoil the whole movie to those who haven't seen it, but still it's cause of the ripped story, just a small piece of story in there...still will does great acting, brings great feelings, and there are great pictures wich leave me with an open mouth sitting there.
what do you think about the movie?
i think myself it's better than the vincent price version but not better than the omega man with charlton heston wich pulls out a whole bunch of story and side meanings and everything. _________________ Hydraw Art on Facebook QUICK_EDIT

I don't think movie actuallly completed one part - explaining what the mutants are the future kind of people to inherit earth. _________________ DUNK! QUICK_EDIT
that lies with the shortcutted story together , the fact why the mutants are primitive and can't speak in the remake, it would have explained that if they had the same intentions as in for example the omega man, the dialogues between neville and matthhias, seeing the mutants as the good, the new, the clean race, unlike neville and his technics, gadgets and gimmicks, weapons, wheels and so on, shame the new one didn't had this. _________________ Hydraw Art on Facebook QUICK_EDIT

Well as far as the movie goes I liked it. There indeed was some emotional moments, but I dont want to spoil them for those who didnt watch it yet. Ticked me off when my little sister started watching it everyday I had to kick ass and confiscate dvds... _________________
I think it was Will Smith's worst movie, personally. Not because of his acting, but the classic "28 days" meets "Resident evil" plot is old. We see it everywhere at the movies. QUICK_EDIT

Well equire i have to say it is a remake
there are now 3 movies based on the book I am legend wich was written in the 50's the newest movie has still structural key scenes, and stephen king and other horror movie creators were actually INSPIRED with making theyr movies and a LOT endtime movies because of that.
i am legend has the privilege in my eyes as "the first" of it's sort and tough the most intelligent with his core message and everything about.
will did a GREAT job when he played robert neville as how he was.
tip for your, go and watch "the omega man" with charlton heston (how ironic that he plays robert neville, you probably understand when seeing it) has the most of the story captured on the screen and it got a lot details so you can understand better how it is all about.
I am legend i think is merely for ppl who knew the old movies and the book probably as it's most scenes based on emotions.
or - read the book, everything you saw about res evil and 28 days had a spread into these days, everything began with this book.
Thanks blubb - I will make an effort to get my hands on the book. That gives a different perspective on things, given that it was based on a book from the 1950s. QUICK_EDIT

Its probably full of anti-Communist propaganda inside it too if you look deep enough. Invasion Of The Body Snatchers...anyone? Hell, even the original version of 300(The 300 Spartans) was viewed as the advanced and peaceful westerners(Spartans) at war with the savage Asians(Persia).
I just can't watch I Am Legend, though...Too much Fresh Prince and Men In Black. _________________ PPM's Reichstrollfuherer, 236th Trollenparties brigade. QUICK_EDIT
oh well, as i said, will's best role IMO....didn't thought any second on his funier movies or fresh prince, he's just bringing the whole world and how it is to live there near the viewer. _________________ Hydraw Art on Facebook QUICK_EDIT
