I know that in the art(md).ini, the image of your aircraft should have CustomRotors=yes

I dont know if it makes the turret becomes the rotor or whatever it makes... and I dont know also any rules(md).ini entry for that.

Hey thanx for the input but I think you may have misunderstood me. I mean a voxel image that doesn't have any rotor animations in it. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about, but as an example the nighthawk transport voxel: shad.vxl, it has two seperate rotor anim sections and then a seperate aircraft body section. What I want to know is can I add a seperate rotor anim section to a voxel that doesn't have any rotor anim sections to start with? If so how? Now if you have answered that in the earlier reply and i have just brain farted, then my deepest apologies.

I think so, try this. Make the rotor a turret (e.g. xxxxtur.vxl) then give the vehicle (im assuming it will be an air unit and if not Confused ) the lines -
Code:
Turret=yes


and i think this is it you might have to double check,

Code:
TurretRotate=yes


then align it correctly and the 'turret' should spin around like a rotor. Also it will require the jumpjet locomotor as (reffering to another topic somewhere else on this board, cant find it as there's just too many) this is the only way to allow an aircraft to have a turret.

You can also give a sound to the rotors by adding the TurretRotateSound= to the unit.

SeaMan tried adding rotor animation to the apache II in Tiberian Sun using the .hva so it would only rotate when it moves (like Mammoth MkII only moves its legs when it moves) but for some reason it just didnt work ?

I havent looked at it yet but i dont doubt him on the matter

simply giving it a turret and turretspin that will make it spin all the time (which isnt too bad) but does it work fine or look odd ?

i did one, you need to open JUST the rotor section in the hva editor and click "add new framwe after this one" or whatever comes close to that, then click the 'rotate around center' toolbar button. rotate the blades a little (in the NEXT frame) then repeat it until its all the way around. it looks better if there are more frames, but it will also be a bigger file. hope this helps. erm as far as I knew, you couldnt do it on flying units, however i could be wrong

and that is why devin I post this apache for you to do.

If you can successfully make this Rotor spin on this apache, when it is moving and it all works correctly

you will get credit in the TSR credits

i could try to makre it... i am really only have done that in RA2, and i forgot to bring my TS disk to my dad's houise, so you wilkl have to test it yourself. i will post it in a few minutes, but i seriously dont know if it will work.

OK, im doing EXACTLY what i said about 3 posts up, making an HVA with rotating rotors. i cant really do TS ini coding, so ill leave it up to someone else to test out. let me know if it works.(hope it does, cuz im wanting to start making voxels and hvas)

It won't work.. you know.. I have made several Harpy HVAs and none of them worked right.
