Starship Troopers Battlegroup
Subject description: Ship models
A few models I've been working on for EaW FoC. It may not be C&C related, but it is definately model related.
The battlegroup contains 2 Star Class Battleships (Rodger Young), 2 Slinger Class Cruisers (Original Design, called Slinger because of the huge fixed mount railgun on the belly ), & 3 Midway Class Destroyers (Design based on the Midway Destroyer in the long dead Starship Troopers mod for EaW), which, by the way, I'm trying to get the developer to start back up. No fancy render because they're not skinned yet.
Looks great, I can get u pics of the SST ships, there are 2 or 3 varients (some are larger then the RY). Also I can get pics of the ships in Roghnecks chronicals, those ships would also fit in well QUICK_EDIT

IIRC that mod was cancelled becuase it recived a 'cease and desist' order from the owner of the starship troopers brand. I very much doubt you would be able to persuade the modder to just ignore that. QUICK_EDIT

I didn't realize that. Funny thing is I've been talking to him and all he told me was the team fell apart. He seemed to be ready to let me start another team and participate in finishing it. He said he still had all the assets. He was even going to work on a new website for it.
oh well, they can't C&D me to not use it personally.
odd, going through that page under the humans vehicles and the guy has 1/2 of the pics on the wrong name lol
As for the order to cease the old mod, if that was the case then the guy who was workin on it would have said so QUICK_EDIT
I have in my possession the entire series on DVD. Some of the bug designs were odd I admit. Now I feel designing some my own...again. >__<.
Well I hope someone found the link useful. For those interested it is a 3d modeling contest. Sounds like a great way to get your name out there if you wish.

Sorry Ickus, didn't mean to ignore your link.
That contest is tempting, model wise, I could come up with a pretty good entry, just texturing isn't my strong point and that could make or break a model.
There's alot of useful info on gaming modeling there as well. I've bookmarked it!
I should point out, his models look better than mine, IMHO, but I'm not sure of the poly count on his either. He made those prior to the game being released. EaW can handle poly counts up to 4000 pretty well, but most run 1000 to 2000. My Rodger Young is aroung 2200, and I know of some optimizing I can do to reduce that.
No worries, I would join if I had the time. although if you can find a texture artist to join you as a team.
I just wanted to spread the news, maybe get people looking outside.
I am part of the 3d modelers group and concept art group which just started out recently at ModDb.com.
I definately recommend taking a a peak at the 3d group, alot of useful info comes along the way and its very well established.

The Midway Destroyer is from Roughnecks? I've never seen that show. Looks like I'll be looking for that on ebay. lol
Communication with the guy who has the assets is unpredictable, so I'm not sure when I'll get the models he has. He's away at college and the models are at home. He acted like he was going to work out a way to have them sent to me, but the next time we talked he mentioned not being home until May.
One of the reasons I started doing my own models. One way or the other, I want to have a SST mod for EaW FoC, especially the space battle, not too crazy about the ground battles in that game.
Some ideas are the Bug Space station as a asteroid base, since they like being underground. Some asteroid ships along with Bugs built for that specific purpose, etc. The Troopers would be either the station seen in the movie or maybe one from the animated series, etc. So any pics you have would be a big help.
Any help would be appreciated, modeling, skinning, etc. so if you want to join the team, PM me.
