Need help learning how to do voxels...
yeah, yet another voxelist. i was wondering, i tried to make one off of amother, but it just made a few lines. could someone link or post a tutorial here, even just a basic one? QUICK_EDIT
i am getting tired of trying to get by on what is up for grabs, since its not really custom, so im thinkin of doing request for peeps, and also for my own mod. i once tryed to turn the 6 missile carrying flatbed thingy into a tractor-trailer truck, but all that changed was like a line down the side. (it looked like a t-t truck un teh voxelSE, but in the HVA editor, it looked like crap (what i sayd earlier) _________________ Please, read the signature rules of the forum. QUICK_EDIT

what do you mean a tutorial? if you have Will's then it comes with a file explaining how to use his editor. i'm not sure about VXLSEII, but its all really easy. Remember theres different layers for a voxel _________________ Tiberian Sun Hidden Shadows Mod Leader and Overlord of PPM. Bow down and repent to your master. And go bake me some cookies!
well, yea, the ones i modified were: top, bottom, left, right, front, and back. Using VXLSE, how do i do the rest of em? and normals??? _________________ Please, read the signature rules of the forum. QUICK_EDIT

be sure to save your voxel before hand and save the new edited one under a new name cause if ya don't like it or something then you still got the old one. all right in one of the little menu bars, it says normals(or something along those lines). go down to it, it should make another drop down bar it has three normals thingys in it(it should if you have the newest version, VXLSEII) pick flyby's normals. personally i have never done this, but i know it works these wizards here that do voxels use that. any more questions _________________ Tiberian Sun Hidden Shadows Mod Leader and Overlord of PPM. umm, yeah, is there any way besides in-game testing to see if the turret, and barrel(s) are in the correct places? and also, are the top, bottom, left, right, front, and back th only sections i need to make? or are there more... _________________ Please, read the signature rules of the forum. uhh. first question: as far as i know doing an in-game test is the only way to tell if the barrels and turret is in the right place. question number two: it depends on how your voxel is shaped. i normally just make the entire shape, detail it, then run like autonormals(i use Wills primarily) and that takes out the insides of the voxel(they won't run if they're in there). i'm used to using Will's voxel editor because it looks so weird in VXLSEII but anyway, it may seem a little stranger to you _________________ Tiberian Sun Hidden Shadows Mod Leader and Overlord of PPM. i havent realy used Will's. where is it? also, do you reccomend making the voxels from scratch, or modifying ones that look kinda like what you want? also, thanks for the help, Venom, i really appreciate it. _________________ Please, read the signature rules of the forum. QUICK_EDIT
as for making voxels, I normally modify voxels that look like what i want, but sometimes a brand new voxel is needed. I prefer modifying already made voxels because its so much easier. It all depends on what the project is, and how you feel about it. Its not that big of a deal though.
Just ask anytime man, there's always someone here to help you out. and if there isn't then its a learning experience and you might know something that they don't _________________ Tiberian Sun Hidden Shadows Mod Leader and Overlord of PPM. you can put me in there if you want, i mean i just gave you the standard knowlege that every modder should have. you can put me down as Venom, Catwithavengence, TheMarbleDragon, FatCatRobotics, VenomRobotics, any of the above. choose one of the above if you wish to put me in your credits. i really don't care either way. _________________ Tiberian Sun Hidden Shadows Mod Leader and Overlord of PPM. I wasn't refering to using the autonormals in Will's, just the editor in general. i like that one better to edit the voxels, 'cept you can't edit sections. the only really downside that i see to Will's is that it doesn't do good autonormals, and you can't do sections. _________________ Tiberian Sun Hidden Shadows Mod Leader and Overlord of PPM. LOL, venom your themarbledragon and catwithavangence! and all this time I just thought you were venom. I have trouble remembering names, so myne is the same in all the forums (even my very, very inactive one)
And Will's Voxel editor is good, but I found VxlseII really good, but right now I use Deluxe voxel editor, the one made by yoshi's friend (whatever happened to yoshi, did he change his name and is still somewhere in this forum) Anyway, the only real problem I foun with VxlseII is that it didn't have 3dview, and that has probably been fixed by now. But Will's was a bit complicated for me when I first started out, and CC might remember my dope ass tank I made with it, I think I called it the TDL Light tank. It sucked beyond all resoning. It was FUBAR. Anyway, I might just redownload Will's voxel editor from my site sometime real soon.

yeah, you have to be careful with voxels, they tend to get very flat very quickly..... anyway, i don't use all those screen names anymore but i might start up with some of them. TheMarbleDragon was my original screen name here, then i guess every thing split(again) or something..... _________________ Tiberian Sun Hidden Shadows Mod Leader and Overlord of PPM.
