Subject description: Return of the Tiberium Fiend
Reply with quote  Mark this post and the followings unread

About a month ago, Stygs and I agreed to work together on making a Tiberium Fiend model for our mods.

The model is based off the BFME worg model, allowing us to reuse some animations. Alot of work has been put into it, so it looks nothing like the original model.
My job in this "operation", has been modeling and texturing the model, some animating, secondary bone influence rigging, and a bit balancing/bugfixing.
Stygs supplied the original worg model with a slightly modified texture, did the main part of the rigging, did the major part of the xml coding, and added all the sounds.

Like the fiend from TS, the main attack of the tiberium fiend is throwing a volley of shards off its back, impaling anything that stands in its way. In addition, the fiend also has a powerful bite attack that will be used against any infantry that comes into melee range. Like scrin units, the fiend will self-heal while in a tiberium field.

The Tiberium Fiend will be appearing in both our mods, but the way it will be appear in each of the mods may differ, and has not yet been completely worked out. More infromation will eventually be found by following the links to the mods below.
Stygs mod: Tiberium Wars Advanced (ModDB profile)
My mod: C&C 3: Retaliation (mod announcement thread)

The model is now more or less finished, and you will find a collection of screenshots below Very Happy . Click the thumbnails for full-size pics.

For the bite attack, we're using the standard bite animation from the worg. For the shard attack, we have tried a couple of different animations... the current verison, actually looks like an improved version of the attack animation for the TS Tiberium fiend Smile. It's not very easy to explain, so we could perhaps upload a video some time... or you can just wait and see for yourself when it appears in one of the mods Wink

WIN

Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever seen someone make a 3d model Tib fiend...

That aweaome guys! how'd you managed to use the bite animation of the BMFE Warg? is there a W3D animation importer? I'de really love to use Col. Burtons (C&C Generals) Knife attack animation for the GDI Commando. Perhaps add Knife attack melee ability in steakth mode for the commando.

Funny... Thats about the fourth fiend model I see since I came up with the idea to use the warg (btw, its Warg, not Worg #Tongue ) Wink

And I have to say that Chronosheeps model is the first one I am really pleased with (though I still think about using Golan attempt for an other Tiberium creature) Very Happy

I doubt it - Both would require totaly new animations and models, which would cost a lot of time and effort.

There are tons of w3d importer around - I suggest using Dantes (made for CnC Renegade, but it beats every other w3d importer hands down) or coolfiles old importer (the one I use for the animations). Curiously enouth, his old importer works fine for animations, the new ones dont Confused
