"In the world of PC gaming, there are a few franchises that can truly be called genre-defining and for the RTS genre, the Command and Conquer series definitely qualifies for this category. Unfortunately for those nostalgic PC Gamers, EA has made the decision to move the newest game in the Red Alert series, Red Alert 3, to be exclusively on the Xbox 360.

The main reason for such a move is due to the ever-increasing use of pirating games through torrents. According to Mike Verdu, Executive Producer at EA Los Angeles (EALA), “We’d like to see the RTS genre start to make the move into the console gaming market, where [Red Alert 3] would be much more profitable and possibly have a much wider base. We made some good ground with Command and Conquer 3, and we’d like to see Red Alert 3 move into that direction and not depend on the PC Gaming market quite as much.” While such a move would undoubtedly alienate a lot of old C&C fans, a move has been much needed for a breath of fresh air for the console market.

Verdu goes on to add that this game is "true to the spirit of this classic franchise, but is updated with state-of-the-art visuals, added strategic depth, and gameplay innovations" that he hopes will advance the RTS genre.

While no definitive release date was mentioned at the time of the game's announcement, EA did indicate that they are shooting for a 2009 ship date. It goes without saying that the return of the Command and Conquer series has certainly captured our attention and that we will be keeping you informed about new developments as soon as they are available."

Well this is just stupid, at least the reason behind it. A more likely reason would be the competence between RA3 and TW/KW, but anyways most fans would buy both .
