In the last news I've said that several people complained that they needed to create a directory in the maps directories to be able to play the downloaded maps. And I bring you a good news: they are all fixed, as I promised.

And we are bring the 5th and 6th places this time at once. In older contests, we had some maps getting exactly the same valid score. Now we have a little different situation: two maps from the same author tied. I actually contacted him on MSN to let him choose who would be the 5th and 6th places. Afterall, there is no difference in this case. And since the author of these maps also has a map in the top 4, the prizes for 5th and 6th will not be distributed. But don't worry, the top 4 will get prizes.

Anyway, JBV3737 has made an amazing achievement of getting 3 maps in the top 6 of this contest. This is definitely a proof that he is very skilled with map making. Congratulations. He is active on CNCDEN and DGN Forums.

So, the 5th place is Forsaken Lands Of Tiberium. This a somewhat desertic 4 players map, made for tournaments without being totally symmetric. The map is one of the most fun maps sent to the contest and the AI is certainly agressive. The details of the map are very well done and also receive good rates with the judges.

The 6th place is Tiberium Erosion. This is an urban 1 vs 1 map with a big tiberium meteor crate in the right side. This map takes the words 'fast fluid and fun' into epicness, providing quite quick and frenetic battles.

Both maps are great and they were punished by the lack of scripts. Even if you think that we are giving too much weight to scripts, remember one thing: scripts bring life and dynamism into maps. And that's a kind of thing we love to see on the submitted maps.

I should post the 4th place tomorrow afternoon on Brasilia Time Zone (-3:00 GMT). The 4th place was one of the maps sent to Aaron "APOC" Kaufman, recommended for inclusion on Kane's Wrath. Unfortunately, we still have no news if it was included in the expansion or not. And there are at least 4 mappers on the top 4: JBV3737, King Base, razorblade001 and Dojynn. So, who's the next victim and how the next map looks like? Next maps are comming soon! However, before that, we'll post a quick sneak peak of each top 4 maps. Stay tuned!

I thought both of these maps were deserving of recognition in KW along with the one I'm pretty sure is first place. In hindsight, I think scripts shouldn't have been worth so much because it lost them valuable marks and, let's face it, scripts aren't that vital in the grand scheme of things.

I think that in a future edition of OMC, scripts and triggers should return to have 10% of the score instead of the current 15%. But they are still very valuable. Some maps became for more dynamic and fun with them.

That is true but it most uses of scripts seemed to be there for the sheer hell of it rather than to make the game more exciting. Only the map I think is going to win really used scripts like how they should.
