Look that file up on Google, and download it.

Most people don't have a clue on how to install an operating system on their own, they think a computer is an appliance like a TV or an oven with a few simple controls they just need to twiddle. Worse, they often think Windows IS as PC and don't even realise you can use something else. This is one of the main reasons people will move to vista... they buy a new computer and have no clue how to get XP onto it or get the drivers for all the hardware, I doubt many even realise it can be done. Linux handles more hardware out of the box than windows does and is easier to install from scratch than windows too, but I don't see loads of end users trying it out.

Vista will work, as long as you have a bit of knowledge about it, and Google to find the things you can't fix #Tongue It just takes some time to get use to it...

You can probably find the drivers for the laptop if you really looked on all the chipset manufacturers websites and knew what chips you needed drivers for. Everest (new version of AIDA32) will normally be able to tell you what devices don't have drivers and what they actually are. You could also build a windows XP disc with driver packs slipstreamed so it would pick up any hardware you have in the laptop unless a device really doesn't have a Win XP driver.
