Hello,
I want to extract VQA ,but everything I try will crash or give very distorted movies. I fail to get VQA to work here.

Is there are util that extracts whol MIX files at once?

I am sorry for being so short.
My name is Sentinel69 and I have a homepage about Lands of Lore .I am very busy with rebuilding to homepage.
I must extract files one by one ,and because the difficult file names E1FA and so on it's very confusing work ,and much more confusing I keep failing to retrieve the most beautiful scenes of this game.

I tried Ramixer, Xcc Mixer , Vqa Enc and VQA2Avi .Xcc mixer keeps crashing ,just like VQA2AVI

Suggestions would be very appreciated Smile

Are you trying to extract the movies or actually play them?

Do any of the available VQA players even support Lands of Lore movies? I know my player supported them I think, but some others had problems with them. They are the earliest variant of VQAs after all, most of the players were based on C&C/RA movies.

Lands of Lore is supported ,in general the basis is the same as Red Alert.

Well, i am struggling to get the movies, and untill now i can't complain. The VQA 2 avi makes a mess of the movies but Raymond Tans player works fine. But nothing can convert them to avi without heavy distorion, big blocks and wrong pallettes.
Tried also Total video converter ...same problems there.

I have some lol movies on you tube and some movies are really bad.
If you want to see what the problem is , look on youtube to my handle there sentinel1969.

Ahh, I must have confused Legend of Kyrandia with LOL, the former being the earliest VQA format that I know of.

Well, here I am, registered this time Smile

I uploaded the file to:

http://rapidshare.com/files/106944854/evilendx.vqa

The problem with this VQA is ,you can play it halfway before the player crashes .Extracted it multiple times, even in other LOL2 versions, the problems persists.

greetings,
Irene

Hm...
The video has a length of 1:12
The VQA plugin seems to be able to play it completely.
Seeking screws up the video, but that's normal. The VQA plugin doesn't support seeking.

However, if I replay the video without closing my video player, it stops around 1:00 - 1:07

I have Vqa2avi and Vqaplayer with Mixviewer. Both crashing at 0:37 ,so just before Belial's encounter with the Draracle.Converting also stops around 0:37 seconds. And after Mixviewer crashes on this movie I must reboot again because I don't have acces to the file somehow.

greetings,
Irene

Theoretically it should be possible to record it with FRAPS it from Media Player Classic, but my PC seems to be too slow to handle it... I get a frame rate of about 1 fps in the resulting video -_-

OK.. so basically, I FRAPSed it by frame jumping, so tapping the [->] button all the time (without actually holding it, bc that made it skip frames again)

Then I loaded the resulting video into Animation Shop Pro, which has the handy feature that it merges identical frames to one.

Then I adjusted the 19 black frames in the middle, since it merged those too.

Then I saved it as frames, since for some reason my Animation Shop Pro crashes when saving as AVI (don't ask -_-)

Then I made those frames into a bare 15-FPS AVI with RAD tools, converted the audio with VQA2AVI (that worked), threw it all into VirtualDub and saved it as XVid video.

So here it is #Tongue

Fantastic!!! Smile

I used mostly virtualdub for editting the avi's but they where huge .Are LOL files less then 20 FPS ? You can virtualdub decide what the proper FPS is.And I never knew animation shop did work for animation..I have JASC.
Anyway ,if you have hints or advices,I would love to.

But if I understand correct I can say ..."dank je wel " Smile

greetings,
Irene

Hah, inderdaad Wink

No problem, I'm just glad I could help.

As for the frame rate... pretty much all Westwood videos I've ever seen are 15 FPS, even in later games like Tiberian Sun and Yuri's Revenge. And when I played it in BS player it showed me the frame rate anyway.

Really, that Windows VQA decoder is very handy for stuff like this Wink

You mention a windows decoder... I downloaded that dll for media player ,but I guess that is not what you mean with decoder?

Greetings,
Irene Smile

Well , here I am again with a question.

The vqa plugin mentions it is also able to play the vqa files of lands of lore 3. However, these vqa files are hidden in a file with a wsx extension.
Does someone has any idea which program is able to read those wsx files?

Thank you,
Irene
