I have a question, I am trying to make train junction overlays, but the game keeps crashing when I put them in the game. Is there something i am doing wrong?

Here is the Image I am using, and the tmp file I am using.

Well, it could be the terrain type is screwed up. type 5 i believe is the track type. But the actual tracks are not tmp files, but shps, as the tmp editor will not open them and the track files are 144x144, which is exactly the same as 4x4, 1x1, and 2x1 etc shps. I find that a bit odd, does anyone else?

It's not odd at all. The tracks are overlay. You CAN NOT ADD to the overlay list. It will not work. And to make sure you're actually setting the tmp to railroad, use TMP Builder: http://www.ppmsite.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=16819 because XCC only shows you numbers.

Such junctions are multi cell and as a result MUST be a tile with the correct terrain types set. This was done by DJBREIT years ago for the YR TX and worked perfectly. You do need to be careful when scripting train movement as the tile layout will be the same even for some layouts when the track graphics appear to be coming from different directions. This makes it possible fora train coming the wrong way to still move between tiles in a way that looks wrong but in game logic is fine.

hmm. I made sure that it was set to railroad in the tmp builder, but I still don't understand why it crashes the game.

If your making train tracks, you wanna make them SHPs renamed to .tem/.sno. Overlays are not pure Isometric tiles.

I will try this next, but I don't see any reason why this would not work as a terrain piece. I will just have to put it in as an shp and go from there. Ho hum. I was just troubled as to why it crashes, as even when it is not set to be a railroad, it crashes Sad I dunno, terrain is not my gig, FOR NOW!

Open your tile in TMP Builder and deselect "Has Damaged Artwork". This is a very common problem that does crash the game.

Hmm. Okay. i know what you are talking about and where to find it, but I cannot get to it. I know that sounds stupid but one time i opened the file and it was there, now its not :S. It is below the radar colors and ramp type correct? I remember it being there and now its not, is there a shortcut to turn it off?

Anyway, I unchecked it and it still crashed and burned. Hmm Sad

I forgot to mention something else too. It only crashes when it is not attached to a train track set that is being used by a train, if that makes any sense to you. IE trains refuse to go across it.

Its up at the top of the topic. But I seem to have fixed it. I decided to redo the entire thing, and for some reason it worked. I don't know why that is, but I am not complaining. Thank you for your support IcySon55, and your wonderful program. I should have a huge junction set in the next release of TS:CAE now.
