I'm sure you all want to know how this project is coming along:

In his most recent news post, pd wrote:
Quote:
I have been working on some bigger features (namely a revamped and totally dynamic new country system, custom foundations, audio wav file loading outside of a BAG and currently in progress is a totally dynamic new side system) and will keep working on the big hangout features for a while, while DCoder seems to be willing to help me out and do some of the smaller (but in no way less important!) tasks.

The preparation work done so far is pretty potent, so it's time for us to start listening to and implementing people's requests!

So head over to the bugtracker and, if your wishes aren't already listed, submit them as Feature Requests using the "Report Issue" link. One idea per issue, please.

More information about the current state of Ares can be found at pd's forum.

Another one?

There needs to be some kind of launcher to swap the bloody things around without having 4 copies of your RA2 directory.

I doubt that will be made to work with NPatch though and currently NP is better than RP.

If,and I repeat IF ANY good progress will be made, than NP will be overwelmed. Why?NP didn't had an good progress for ages.

But if both will work, than I sense either chaos, either win.

Lol, i know this is far better than direct hacking, this is more flexable, allows people who know C++ to write new code for the game and will be faster.

Really, even i have come around to using it, even though i know almost nill of C++, but it will mean i can do MUCH more and updates will be small and much easyer for me to do.

Currently NP is better than RP.

This ain't released, nor has anything truely interesting been shown (IMO. ie nothing I can use). Sure, Syringe will totally unlock the engine to those able and willing to make DLLs for it, but then its not even modding YR anymore. For TCs it will be great, for mods aiming to totally change gameplay it will be great but for any and most YR mods it wont be fully utilised.

Anyone know if this is going to "break" NPatch coded mods?

Well, it can work with any executable, but writing code to add to NPatch that conflicts with existing code, then it will create problems.

LOL! Good luck. If Pad makes a release before losing interest for another 2-3 months, it'd be a miracle.

With motivation like this, would it be surprising? -_-

Just look at the facts DCoder. I, along with a crap-ton of other people have been pushing PD ever since RP1, and it hasn't stopped him from simply vanishing. Truth is there's no way of knowing, told me so himself.

There never is any way of knowing with modding stuff, he's not really getting anything out of it so it's not surprising he comes and goes as he pleases.

I do that myself.

When (yes, when, not if) this is avible for the masses, this will be the best there is! And as I plan to learn C++ sometime in the future, this would really open "unforeseen consequences" Wink

Bloody hell, you lot should be lucky.

pd could just quit all C&C related activity if he wanted to, and he has a few times come very close to, its good that DCoder managed to at least get him to finish YR++

And i dont blame him, if people where pushing me, i would just stop doing anything. Whole reason this is around is so people would stop bugging him and get off the lazy asses and bloody do it for themselfs.

People who've "quit" are just as likely to come back as people are to quit in the first place anyway (unless they've had to quit because of something out of their control) so it doesn't matter.

Nah Hyper, I'm not just doing this to get you all off of me. xD
I still love YR and create these DLLs for the hell of it, Syringe might also come in handy for the apprenticeship I just started (as software developer).

It's just an up and down, Daz calls it normal, I think for me it is a pretty frequent up and down though.
Well, it's not gonna change and if you wanna blame me for that, feel free to do so. Laughing

Right now I've been back on YR for 3 weeks in a row and well, I can't see any "down" yet.

Daz is right... technically ive "quit" modding several times where I dont feel the need to mod for months at a time, but I always come back in some form. The only difference is I dont make a song and dance about it in the form of a leaving message.

If you make a message about leaving, dont ever come back. #Tongue
