Life issues and regarding site updates...
Subject description: My life is a mess.
Hey everyone! I'd like to apologise if this site is being updated in a irregular way or I'm missing a lot of news out there. This is my last year in my university (hopefully) and a lot of things have changed in my life and there are more changes to come.
If everything works out well, I will graduate by the end of this semester and I've been working hard on it during my whole 'vacations'. In order to graduate, I need do a traineeship and my final project, and also few subjects (with my nightmare physics among them). I've been hunting for a traineeship in the computer graphics/gaming area, which is something that lacks in the city I live (almost every company from Rio de Janeiro imports this kind of technology instead of producing it), for few weeks already. If I don't get any kind of response soon, I'll start looking for jobs that are away from the area I wanna work on. I'm also having problems to decide the topic of my final project. It's a weird situation, because I'm stuck between two ideas: one of them is awesome, but it is hardly possible to implement it in the next 4 months or so. The other one is far more viable but it is only useful for Red Alert 2 and Tiberian Sun modders or it will be useful in 20 or 30 years when holography becomes a reality for mortals. I'm working hard to make the first option viable, but if I fail to do it in 2 weeks, I'll go with the second one.
Getting graduated also means that I already have to look after a master course, which I'm not really sure if I wanna do it, however, I'm already going to make exams for this kind of thing as well.
In short, I apologise in advance (or late) if I haven't given a proper attention to certain news and I'm already interested on getting the support from 1 or 2 additional news posters for the site. If you are interested on it, you have an understandable english and you have an account at PPM forums, post a reply here and I'll choose the ones I consider most mature and interested to do it.
And finaly, I think it worth mentioning that I was approved on the Certificate in Advanced English exam, which cost me a trip to EALA several weeks ago, although you might have noticed that I still need to improve my english a lot, since I've scored a C, which was enough to pass it, but nothing exceptional. You may find more information about CAE HERE. Last edited by Banshee on Mon Aug 04, 2008 7:55 pm; edited 1 time in total QUICK_EDIT
I personally think I have got the time and dedication to post site news. The only thing that will come in the way is that I'm going on vacation for two weeks in a few days (I leave wednsday), but I'm sure I'm able to handle the news before and after that. My English skills aren't perfect, but I try to make them perfect. I'm certain that I am capable of dedicating the required time to post news daily. QUICK_EDIT

If you want a news poster, I'm always available. I visit PPM every day, I have a decent knowledge of English, and I don't have any holiday plans (except for a day out sometimes). It's up to you to decide though Also, why is PPM so slow atm? QUICK_EDIT

The problem was the release of Contra 006. There were far too many people downloading it, beyond the connection limits from the server.
We've already got several mirrors for it, which reduced the server bandwidth usage considerably. The only problem is that, for the first time, this server will bypass the 2 terabytes limit, which will cause additional costs for those who are keeping it, due to bad planning (and lack of consideration, if you see the replies on Contra forums) from the mod author. Also, there's nothing wrong with looking to the future with a project, so something like holography could make for a very interesting and relevant work! Though to be honest, I don't that it will ever catch on in a consumer market, when there are really much better options for the only really marketable part of it, that is, capturing a 3D scene. See Microsoft's Photosynth for the future in that realm. That combined with 3D generation based on that data will definitely by available within 20 years for consumers. _________________ QUICK_EDIT

I'll do it. I've got nothing but time now-a-days anyway. If you're also looking for additional Moderators I'll happily do that as well. QUICK_EDIT
