Voxel Section Editor III 1.38 has been released!
Subject description: Preview your voxel animation and improved auto normals.
From now on, Voxel Section Editor III should get a big boost with my final project. And the first step is the release of the version 1.38, which is finally available.
This version fixes the black holes in the latest auto normals and also brings additional features to make it become smarter. It is not perfect, but it is bringing some nice results already, being flat where it is supposed to be flat, and rounded in the curves.
Another interesting feature, and probably a teaser for a possible absortion of the OS HVA Builder by this program, is the ability to preview all sections together and its animation at the 3D Preview window, as shown in the screenshot below. Here's the change log:
1.38
- revisions by Banshee
- Added: View "Whole Model" on the 3D Preview Window. You can now preview all sections together, like OS: Voxel Viewer does.
- Added: Play, pause and stop HVA animations and view other frames than the first one, as long as there is a .hva file available for your voxel with multiples frames.
- Added: Treat Discontinuities at Tangent Plane auto normals. This option auto-detects the neighbor pixels from the pixel that is being analysed, improving the auto normals result.
- Bug Fix :Renderer received several fixes and improvements.
- Bug Fix: Tangent Plane Auto Normals received several fixes, making it much more efficient and reliable.
- Updated: Community links.
You can download it HERE. If you own a fan site, you can place this program on your site for download. If you wanna modify it, go ahead. But on both cases, make sure that Will, Plasmadroid, Koen, Stucuk and I are credited for our efforts. And, have fun voxelling! QUICK_EDIT
Banshee, have you ever considered bumping the version number on VXLSE III to 3.x, instead of 1.38? The last version of the II-branch was 1.7 (IIRC), so a 3.x version number might make it clearer that it supercedes VXLSE-II. Now you have to pay close attention to the naming.

@Koen: The last version of the II branch was 2.1 (Stucuk continued your work). The III branch started at 1.0, just like the II branch did. And the difference between 1.2 and 1.3 from the III branch isn't that significant for the user. It is mainly the new autonormalizer, the 3D Preview window and several bug fixes.
@Elerium: I guess the changes in the renderer in 1.3 affected specifically your machine, which is impossible for me to debug here to find out what's going on. Anyway, try to disable the 3D Preview when you start the program and use the 3D Preview window to preview your things. If the 3D Preview window also crashes, try working without previews, save your voxel and preview it with OS: Voxel Viewer. If your program reboots when the program loads, then keep using 1.2, but inform me, so it will be easier to figure out what's wrong with it. QUICK_EDIT
