TFD Problems? Ask Nyerguds! He solves everything!
While EA thinks about working in a patch, the community is sorting all problems that appeared on this great compilation known as The First Decade. Due to the problems that it also caused on several mods hosted here such as Return Of The Dawn, Tiberian Sun: Total Wars, NCM Revolution, etc... we will make a special support section for it here with all solutions. For now, let's throw some at you (a big thanks for Nyerguds for some of the solutions):
Problem 1: TFD Covert Ops doesn't use Covert Ops music:
Solution: Manually copy the SCORES. MIX file from ~/Command & Conquer The First Decade/Command & Conquer(tm)/covert to ~/Command & Conquer The First Decade/Command & Conquer(tm) (up one directory).
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Problem 2: TFD users can't access Funpark mode on C&C 95 (can't play against Dinos).
Solution: Make a link to your command and conquer 95 with:
The dot is part of it.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Problem 3: TFD soviet movies from RA1 doesn't run properly from mission 2.
Solution: Get XCC Mixer and extract movies2.mix from your main.mix. Then, rename it to scsovmov.mix. (If you want to get extra 400mb, delete the movies2.mix from main.mix.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Problem 4: TFD users can't open RA1 map editor if they don't read instructions:
Solution: Create a shortcut to EDWIN.EXE. Right click the shortcut, and select properties. In the target box, add "-cd" after the target. Make sure you include the set of quotes around the command. An example is: "C: \Program Files\Command & Conquer The First Decade\Command & Conquer Red Alert(tm)\EDWIN.EXE" "- cd.".
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Problem 5: TFD C&C95 and RA1 games can't play LAN matches by default:
Then, place it in your game directory (replacing the existing one). You need Westwood Chat to play it. If you don't have it by any reason, check THIS (E for US english, F for french, G for german, U for UK, etc).
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Problem 6: TFD players might have several crashes, crash-to- desktop issues, installation issues, resolution issues, etc.
Solution: Use ccsetup or rasetup to properly setup your resolution. If it doesn't help, try using compatibility mode and switching them.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Good luck with it and let's hope one day EA releases a patch fixing these issues. Also thanks to the person known as ' goneiseveryname' at TFD forums for listing the bugs and posting the solution for some of them. I still don't have TFD here due to lack of cash, availability (not released in Brazil yet) and interest (I already have all C&C games). MOVE, don't copy. Saves some 70 mb disk space.
Problem 4: TFD users can't open RA1 map editor if they don't read instructions:
Dude, what you pasted there is exactly what I QUOTED, instead of my correction of it
I said to simply do the same as I said before, with the -cd. parameter. The quotes junk, while it may work, is courtesy of the EA boards Horde.
Problem 5: TFD C&C95 and RA1 games can't play LAN matches by default:
Not my solution. Kudos to the guys that pulled it off and to the XWIS team, but I can't be credited for that.
All I did was make a fixed version of the RA 3.03 patch, which doesn't even use that dll.
Problem 6: TFD players might have several crashes, crash-to- desktop issues, installation issues, resolution issues, etc.
My solution was only about the resolution issues, and has nothing to do with all the others.
Please do quote me correctly next time _________________ QUICK_EDIT
After seeing that load of problems I've decided against buying it I have it on pre-order but I will be cancelling tommorow and buying empire at war instead. I hope ea sees this. _________________ -------------------------------------------------------

I'm having problems using Red Alert mission editors (RAED to name one) with The First Decade. I get error messages like "Invalid file format" "cannot open XXX.mix" where XXX is any mix folder the program needs to read. _________________
