Guess what, the TOSS.AUD file really works as the grenade throw sound (I renamed TOSS1.AUD into TOSS.AUD and put it intoa SC-003.MIX file). Another note is that Red Alert also contains an analogous file, GRENADE1.AUD (mistakenly described as "Tanya dart" in XCC Mixer), which is also unused in the game (can be reinstated by editing rules.ini though).

Apparently, the developers initially planned to include concrete in C&C, like in Dune II. Concrete tiles (they're overlays actually) can still be put on a C&C map.

Although it was supposed to be isometric, as it seems, I couldn't make a diamond-shaped concrete layer that would be larger than one block (which takes two in-game tiles, btw). Notice that concrete conceals the "road bib" elements in front of the buildings. Also, concrete effectively hides buildings placed on it on the radar map.

You didn't notice the concrete until now? That is interesting that it conceals the buildings on it and hides the bib stuff though. I can see why they didn't implement the concrete tiles however...

Nope, I just was too lazy to make a good screenshot and post it here, since concrete was not mentioned on the list, if I'm not mistaken.

What was Westwood's plan for concrete in C&C? Will we ever know?

Most likely the same as the later C&C games, or it was like Dune in that you needed to build on top of concrete. Though if you think about it, that's just silly to have concrete pad things on the building .shps if they have to by built on top of concrete in the first place, heh.

there's another few pavements like that... FPLS, or "Flag PLacement Sign", which is the indicator placed under the flag in CTF MP mode, and ROAD, which is actually quite like the Dune II concrete if only it'd use the SECOND cell of the SHP file, instead of the stupid 4x4 grey-and-transparent checkerboard of the first cell.

I remember they used this flag placement sign to depict a floor vent grill in an Aftermath interior mission.

Just checking through the artmd.ini and I found this little aircraft.

Odd that such a kickass aircraft concept never made it to retail.

It's old and included in several mods, i do wonder where it comes from though and what its purpose was...

rulesmd.ini has a leftover comment with this under BPLN. (The Boris MiGs)

Maybe it was supposed to be an Allied (or Yuri) equivalent?

Who knows.

As per the old comment, I didn't know it was there or what FORTRESS looked like....until now.

Judging from 'FORTRESS', and how it looks, it would have been a flying fortress. So Maybe a heavy bomber or something?

if you look threw the mixes the fortress has a cameo but it uses the Tiberian sun pallet

the aircraft looks the right side in TS and the Cameo matches the rest of the (cameos Only Green rather than Red or Yellow)

(id say its a unused plane from TS but left out of the TS mixes or it was from the beta stage when RA2 was TS with some diffrent units and a dfferent name

Dude, just because its in the TS palette, does not mean its from TS >.>

You do know that RA2 was built ON-TOP of TS, so that basically means that the fortress was in a early, early, early build of RA2.
