Tooltips error?

I have recently been having problems with TO and TS as well, basically unit names do not appear anymore, whenever I hover over a unit no name shows up and also unit prices do not show up. I have tool tips selected on and the problem persists. Is there any specific file you need in your directry for this to actually work? It used to work fine before, and I am unsure of anything I could have done that may have caused this to happen.

In RA2, that happens when you get 75 cameos on one tab (and the game locks up permanently when you get the 76th). TS's lack of tabs might trigger this same problem with different amount of cameos.

Nope, because with all other TO members this error does not pop up. I tried turning on and off tooltips, but I didn't have any trouble having them appear.

I wouldn't rule it out so soon, Titan, Morpher has done a lot of work since he got the latest version.

But the thing is, I'm sure there are mods out there which added huge amounts of units to TS, and as far as I know haven't had this problem?

Yeah I am presuming this is a missing file it has nothing to do with TO, at first I thought it was perhaps the edited exe or dll's but I tried regular TS and had the same problem, I also replaced most files in my folder with original mixes dll's straight off the TS disc and tried it, no luck, its very annoying and is slowing me down a lot when working, so I am wondering if it may be a specific file that I could have deleted when making new folders for seperate mods.

Tooltips are using windows timer system,
if you have a lot of apps which use it, it can't be created -> and you don't see any tooltips Sad

try to close some apps.

Ah thanks VK, I think this is the problem, for some reason my PC has been acting up recently, I'm not sure why, to load up my music folder ( not that many files ) takes a fair few seconds, longer than before, its as if my PC is doing a heck of a lot more than it should... Quite possibly a virus or something.

Ok sorry to revive this age old thread but TS is now doing the same no tooltips error, Ive tried running the game with no other apps running at all and all unnecessary processes turned off and it still will not show the tooltips, any ideas or solutions please?

Huh, this is strange. Other than what VK said, i would not no any other way than debugging it, but you wont be able to do that...

do you mean tooltips over the cameos in the sidemenu or also on units/things in the main battle screen?

I've noticed this kind of problem in the sidemenu, if you have very long names on units/buildings. e.g. "Fortress Double Cannon Tower" won't show up, but the whole text is shown if i select sidemenu-subtitles to on. In the battle screen the tooltip is shown too. It's only in the sidemenu where long names won't show up as tooltips.

Just a stupid question
Do you set Popups in the options menu to on? Without this you don't get any tooltips at all.
Since i have german TS only, i don't know if it's called popups in english too. It's the checkbox on the right, above smooth scrolling and under the details slider.
Alternatively check sun.ini if ToolTips=yes is set under the [Options] section.

I'm not talking about sidebar text I'm talking about the box which pops up and says "unrevealed terrain" or "enemy unit" this no longer shows up. And yes I have it selected in menu and SUN.ini, it doesn't work in standard TS or TO or any directory I'm using.
