Basically, I'm coming up with concepts to create a mod that simply replaces and adds more units to Tiberian.
Probably set somewhere between Firestorm and Tiberium Wars but it doesn't really matter.
What this mod actually aims to do is to refresh TibSun, by removing old units and adding many brand new and interesting ones.
Very few original units will remain.
One concept I have is 'Limited' or 'Special' units. These are special units that you can only build a small amount of, and are right at the top of the tech tree.
GDI has the Retired-Tech Center, which can be built after the normal Tech Center. Once you have this you can build a select few "retired" GDI units, including Elite Disk Throwers and the Titan MkII.
Nod has the Scrin Core, available after you've built the Nod Tech Center. After building the core you gain access to a group of units all with a Scrin flavour to them, including the Seeker, Tripod and a Scrin-based infantry unit.
More to the point, I'm just coming up with ideas at the moment, work will begin when everything is worked out.
Also I completely suck at graphics (SHPs and Voxels, that is), and am also new to modding using XCC rather than Tibed and the likes, so go easy on me, yeah?
Anybody who's interested is welcome to "join the team" as such, but be warned I fail extremely hard at modding, concepts is my thing, always has been. I have these great (imo ) ideas, and I can never get them off the paper!

The GDI ChainTank Weaponry: Twin-linked Chainguns
Battlefield Role: Anti-Air and Anti-Personel
GDI designed their latest creation, the ChainTank, to make easy work of the ever-improving Brotherhood infantry.
Not only that, the chainguns were tweaked to have a fantastic effect on enemy aircraft, making this extremely deadly on the battlefield.
However, this is unfortunately all very heavy, so the ChainTank is slow, albeit heavily armoured. QUICK_EDIT
...Their armour is strong enough to withhold a bit of tank fire but they can't hold up against so much long range punishment.
It brings another level to GDI being the steamrolling team, and Nod being guerilla tactics.
(ie. GDI tank rush is somewhat feasible, Nod not so much.)
If you have artillery in the background pinpointing ChainTanks, you can move in with Rocket Soldiers to make short work of any anti-tanks they have.

Yes, I'm considering giving them a long-range weapon but making them far slower than other rocket infantry.

I don't know where I got the font, but it's called 'ultimate MIDNIGHT', and may be from Blambot.

BlackHand Sniper Weaponry: Long-Range Laser Rifle
Battlefield Role: Anti-Personel
The BlackHand are a group of elite Brotherhood soldiers, trained extensively in the use of more powerful and exotic weapons
The Sniper is one of the more widely used BlackHand soldiers, and is able to pick off infantry at an extremely long range.
Humvee Weaponry: Light Machine Gun
Battlefield Role: Scouting
GDI's light scout vehicle makes a triumphant return, with its powerful roof-mounted LMG and amazing speed, the Humvee is sure to scare any infantry patrols your opponent might have.

I'm thinking about converting this mod to RA2, due to the better engine and more features
(such as flying transports, navies, gattling weaponry and garrisons)

Can I successfully replace RA2 buildings with the TS buildings?
How hard would it be to replace the terrain with TS terrain?
Basically, yes, it will use the current (TS) graphics. That is, unless I learn 3dsmax any time soon, which I probably won't because I'm lazy.
Is it even worth it (what I've done so far, it seems so, although my MLRS artillery's missiles don't look or sound as good...) QUICK_EDIT
I think that you would have some trouble in the RA2 engine, with all these public assets for TS.
You would need a team of voxelers and SHPers to help you, and this would become a larger project.

yup sure, its possible and all the nice new features, but you also lose some that are TS/FS only. yea, there are patches that try to "recreate" stuff and add new stuff but those are buggy.

I am making a better version of that HMMWV and will release it probably in the next TSCAE release, but I will go ahead and give it to you and you can compare it to the old one and see how you like it, cause the version you have is really crappy. _________________ You come for the modding but you stay for the Crap Forum.
