Hey, whilst playtesting TO I noticed it takes a lot longer than standard TS to load, or any other mods I've played, to start up. Loading the start menu takes a while and god forbid I click on the skirmish tab...

Is there anyway to make the game load menus faster? I know trimming down ini files can help loading a level or game quicker, not sure if this applies to the menus.

Additional maps slow down the game, a lot.

yeah, any ".mpr" map it slows down.. renaming the extension to ".map" then coding it in to the missions.pkt will take away all that lag.
A program called "mscg" on PPM's front page can do this automatically

Nope, this is not the actual problem.

Its actualy shoddy CD code, i get it a lot and i dont have any MPR files in the folder. I debugged the game quite a bit, and somewhere it gets stuck on a loop.

Ill have to get more info on it...

C/p all mix files from the cd to your folder speeds up the loading progress a lot Wink

True, but still some files require the CD to be used as the primary directory first, but the error not file loading, its the CD control/init in general.

Thats why a NoCD works perfectly, the CDControlClass is pants, it gets stuck in a GetVolume loop, and i think the problem started when the programmers started messing with the code to fix the multipule drives problem.

Trivia: TS still loads Main.mix Wink

Even with my CD, I do notice the game loading slowly when theres additional maps, or in my case, A LOT of music and some maps... I'm just adding my bit to the topic, so I don't really know what is the problem.

Currently because of my setup I'm not using my CD, I copied my CD files into my directory, but I did see mpr files definitely slow the game down. Perhaps its how they are loaded, I mean unlike a rules.ini or mix the game reloads a map each time you play it.

Game loads the map as soon as you click "ok" on the skirmish screen, You will hardly notice any loading problem there, as there is not really any alternative, possible it was a leftover way of loading from the map editor.

MPRs do slow the game down, but not as much as the CD loop problem. MPR problem is about a 2 to 5 second thingy, where the CD loop can be from 2 seconds to a minuite sometimes.

You will get a lag after clicking "Firestorm", this is normal, because it has to reload everything, where all TS stuff is loaded by defualt, no FS.
