Tiberium is history.
Subject description: EALA has cancelled Tiberium.
We have a bad news for all Command & Conquer fans out there. And it is even worse to give such news on our birthday, but bad things happens. Tiberium has been cancelled. The words from Mike Verdu, EALA's Vice President, may explain it in a proper way:
Quote:
It is with a heavy heart that I announce an end to all work on Tiberium effective immediately. I've consulted with Nick Earl and Frank Gibeau at the EA Games Label and together we have reached the conclusion that given the time and resources remaining, we will not be able to deliver this product to an appropriate level of quality.
The game had fundamental design challenges from the start. We fought to correct the issues, but we were not successful; the game just isn't coming together well enough to meet our own quality expectations as well as those of our consumers.
Unfortunately, this action will result in several individuals on the team being released. We will make every effort to place affected individuals on projects within the studio – and where that isn't possible, to connect them with opportunities in other teams at EA.
This is the right move for the studio and the company, but it's particularly hard for me because of the impact it will have on our people. Many individuals contributed their time and talents to this game. I spent time in the trenches with them and I was continually impressed by their work.
Moving forward, we need to make sure this doesn't happen again. I believe we are already doing a better job of engineering success in from the start. The quality bar has been raised. Now we need to step up our focus on great design and execution, catching any problems early and correcting them quickly.
We will strive to live up to our values: To make great games, treat people right, keep our commitments, and grow our business.

Does anybody wonders now why ZoneRunner left the company in july and nobody replaced him? And guys, get ready for Generals 2... since Tiberium is no longer the game where those who buy RA3 Premier Edition will be able to beta test. QUICK_EDIT
EA is completely destroying the last remains of Westwood and C&C Franchise. Maybe, when everything is melted up, they will be more available to sell the rights of Command and Conquer to Petrolglyph, and re-ignite the series.
I didn't see Tiberium going anywhere anyway. At least in terms of story.
It wasn't very clever setting Tiberium Wars after Tiberian Sun.
Neither was it clever to set 'Tiberium' after Tiberium Wars.
Another shoot-the-aliens up fps is not what the gaming population needs. QUICK_EDIT
Aww... I was actually looking forward to Tiberium (unlike with C&C3 or RA3) EA should've just gotten over themselves and used the Cry Engine (they already own it anyway)
At least they won't be releasing some bugged game like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. or just another Renegade _________________ QUICK_EDIT

Lololol, what?! Tiberium was too much like its predecessor Tiberian Sun to fit the reformed, crazy and irrational Command & Conquer franchise?! Red Alert 3 my @ss. _________________ QUICK_EDIT

Are you talking about the beta key that comes with RA3? I thought it was a Warhammer Online beta key? If not then fingers crossed for generals 2.
I've recently installed generals and I'm playing through the campaign again, It's very easy but fun. I'd pick generals 2 over another failed C&C:Tiberium game.
TBH isn't RA3 generals 2? So many unit abilities taken from generals such as Natasha sniping vehicle pilots (jarmen kell), japans transport disguise ability (bomb truck) a few others and the special powers...plus most of the units in generals have secondary abilities. RA3 is perfect for a generals total conversion mod. QUICK_EDIT

instead of Generals in which EA aimed for realism and political incorrectness(it can't have been accidental), EA has aimed to exaggerate the key features of RA2 - crazy technology and more political incorrectness.
Generals 2 will aim for absolute realism to have nice product contrast with RA3. I believe this is a very self-aware marketing strategy. After all EA are better at marketing then making games. QUICK_EDIT
Oh well. Tiberium wasn't going anywhere, it was going to be an EA shooter. While it certainly would have been interesting to see, it's no huge loss that this happenned. It just goes to further show that EA are incapable of creating a decent FPS that steps somewhat out of their usual molds. QUICK_EDIT
I find RA3 an unpleasant mix of Generals, RA2's cartoonyness and from the looks of it the build system in C&C 3 but with grids, if they were planning to make a game to get me out of EA's RA3 storyline the only thingt they could add is a bunch of sluts, wait... They did that _________________ Yes, work on MV continues. It is not forgotten. QUICK_EDIT
I don't think I would, to be honest, from what I've seen there's a lot of micro and they've damaged my favourite units, the tesla tank has legs and is a boat, the mirage tank looks retarded and the Peacekeeper is damn stupid... _________________ Yes, work on MV continues. If it's fun to play you'll forgive the fundamentals. Seriously. Why do you think I like Zero Hour? _________________

ZH with shockwave is fun, bordering on good, if I use the same logic on RA3 it becomes a moderately fun cartoon. But not the successor to RA or even RA2. _________________ Yes, work on MV continues. It is not forgotten. QUICK_EDIT

I didn't miss it. If the game is fun and contains few if any major bugs, then it's fulfilled its purpose and everything else can be overlooked. _________________

Just My Two Cents..
Time to break your balls.
Please turn around and remember the gas prices as of recently.
Please turn 90* to the left and view how our stock markets been.
Please Turn 180* to the right and view how picky consumers have grown.
Please turn 90* to the right and look at your fanboyism.
(And enjoy how stupid you feel for following along in turning.)

Too true.
I couldn't care less if EA made a FPS with bunnies with guns.
