Message from the Developer
Welcome to Fallen Sun!

I, OmegaBolt, have stepped into the world of Tiberian Sun. While I've always modded Yuri's Revenge, TS has been my one true love and I've really always wanted to develope a cool mod for it. Now, hopefully, 3 years on, my skills and understanding are at a level where I can truely fullfill that dream and make something I can be proud of.

What TS has over YR is atmosphere. Sun's magical world of darkness, fear and lurking creatures is inspiring, very rich and filled with gameplay potential. While Fallen Sun isn't a new project, it's one thats finally taking off and I hope to enrich this environment in the mod and not degenerate it like most mods do. I will achieve this by increasing the civilian and mutant factions - giving them many new objects players will encounter on the battlefield. I will also improve the Tiberium wildlife and infact replace/recreate every single Tiberian Sun and Firestorm map to bring a richer, deeper feel; battlefields filled with eye candy and interactable objects but maintain the dark and brooding atmosphere.

One of my goals is to limit the amount of buildable units I add. Infact, its my goal to try and replace units or revamp them rather than just add more. Personally a fairly strict tech tree feels a lot more professional - something I do want to achieve. Fallen Sun will hopefully be seen as almost an unofficial expansion similar to Firestorm, rather than just a mod.

Electronic Video Agent...
Standby... Accessing GDI history logs from the year 2037 to the present

The Global Defense Initiative signed a treaty with the Brotherhood of Nod to eradicate the renegade artificial intelligence, CABAL. The alliance was relatively successful in that it destroyed CABALs data matrix and a public report was filed stating that "the system is firmly believed to be dead". However, segments of the core were taken back to GDI labs to study how it was made to be so effective and results have shown the pieces to still be active despite not being intact.
After CABALs destruction, GDI and Nod once again parted, but didn't enter a full scale war. Nod went back seemingly helping the Tiberium infested communities and aiding those suffering from Tiberium poisoning. Even a Nod representative was declared a member of GDI's Global Tiberium Repulsion Council and helped share Nod's Tiberium research with GDI in order to help cleanse the majority of Earth of Tiberium (It was arguably decided that Tiberium shouldn't be totally removed, but kept under control for scientific and economic reasons).
Although on the surface Nod seemed aggressively dormant, many GDI Commanders and high councillors believed the peace wouldn't last and so the publicly loyal council leaders made GDI reform its basic military to be more economically valid and "stronger". They wanted GDI to become the ultimate brute force, able to destroy any hostile presence quickly and easily. Though the military changes that ensued were not liked by many Commanders who believed the councillors to be "strategically unaware".
The councillors pushed to make GDI weaponry more advanced, powerful and effective usually rushing many projects through into the real military without proper testing. This lead to an instability in GDI armed forces and made the basic ground forces deal with improper technology. Many changes were made such as the decommissioning of the Mammoth Mark 2 (Which was originally made to be constructible by every GDI Commander (Leading in the early and "incorrect" decommissioning of the original Mammoth Tank), but later revealed to be too costly and almost impossible) from the core GDI force and keeping them only for the leading GDI bases.
Although Nod seemed to be supporting the idea of eradicating Tiberium from certain areas, when GDI came close to finding a method of forcing the plant to retreat they were met with hostile, apparently renegade, Nod forces who threatened to kill the research team if they tried to destroy Tiberium in the eastern European region.
With this GDI sent task forces into the area to destroy the ‘renegade’ forces, keeping the GTRC Nod councillors for public support and black mailing them into agreeing that the Nod force was indeed independent, hoping to incite a divide within the Brotherhood – and a divide it created. Once again Nod was split with those on one side believing the GDI loving traitors were heretical towards Kane and on other those who believed that, while Tiberium was the next step in Human evolution, it didn’t have the destroy the Earth at the same time and, even if controlled, it would still provide answers Kane sought.
The current situation as stands: GDI is repelling Tiberium around the world, pushing it back into denser areas and seemingly winning the fight against the alien substance. Parts of the Brotherhood of Nod are working along side GDI and even helping them to destroy secret Nod installations. Small parts of the Brotherhood however, are fighting against GDI and the ‘traitors’ aiming for the preservation of Tiberium and trying to help it grow in new areas.
The long term goals of Nod and the whereabouts of Kane are still an unknown.

Battlefields
A short description and set of screenshots for the Fallen Sun maps as follows:

Where Eagles Dare
Players: 2
Size: Small
Where Eagles Dare... a land highly poisoned by Tiberium and on the outskirts of a GDI protected civilian city. Every day the infestation grows more and more dangerous; closer to the city. GDI has been trying to evacuate the civilians, but time grows short. They've even sent in a small team to watch over the southern border of the city and try and halt the invasion.

Plenty of Tiberium is available for the players as well as a Veinhole of Nod's chemical missile. Several routes can be taken across the map. There are Tiberium creatures roaming the area as well as Tiberium worshipping civilians! An Ops Array is capturable in the centre to provide a large area of sensor coverage.

Nice work Bolt. Out of curiosity, what maps are you playing on? I don't recognize them as WestWoods.

Stupid update delay, but I have been working on it and GDI is more or less *complete* (Though I always make changes anyway), of course there are a lot more things than what's on these screens.

So I updated the first post with pictures of the Nod Recon Bike and Attack Buggy and also the SAM Site created by tetnis shot ninja and Machine respectively. Hopefully I'll make a small series of webpages for this mod, so the topic won't get cluttered and I can then have a page of epic story for the mod in true, all-nerd style. Also working on fixing a damn IE that won't budge and collecting a theme pack together.
