hello
I am getting really sic of all the crashing

I made a new map thismorning "128 by 128" nothing in it just gems, rocks
and a wee bit of coding
------------------------------------------
[GAGAP]
GapRadiusInCells=15
Adjacent=15

[GTGCAN]
Owner=British,French,Germans,Americans,Alliance,Russians,Africans,Confederation,Arabs
Adjacent=10
Prerequisite=Barracks
RequiredHouses=Americans,Alliance,French,Germans,British,Africans,Arabs,Confederation,Russians

[General]
MaximumQueuedObjects=999
------------------------------------------
that's it

I started an online game one guy was lost before it fully loaded another just quit early in

I made a large bace maby 20 ore buildings and 75 trucks
about 20-30 war factories
about 100-150 mobiel air defence
about 60 mamith tanks
and a hole mass of rocket men
I seleceted a bunch and sent them to the other side of my bace grooped them as 1
and did the same twice more so I had 3 groops of the most we can have mooving in one groop
then I sent them all to my aponents bace
soon as I told them to go the game crashed

is there any way to stop this crashing
feels like it is my computer not theres but who knows
I thought in the past it was either my coding or my obsesion with 200 by 200 maps
but this is not a masive map and I used hardly any coding

in another game the other day I had twice as menny rocket men on the move and about 150-200 tanks aswell and it didn't crash

O I used the TB sun map shrinker on it could that be a problem ?

Hmmm, the Gap radius cells max is supposed to be 10? I think there's also a problem on the MaximumQueuedObjects. How about uploading the error.txt?

I don't think there is much text but ill have a look next time

I have had the gap at 30

most people increase the MaximumQueuedObjects though
still something in causing the crashes like about 1/3 to 1/2 the time
i WONDER IF i JUST LIKE TO BUILD TO BIG HEHEHE
hate cap lock

Urm, by "crashing", do you mean internal error?

Most likely an IE. And I don't put the queue up that high, 99 at the most for me. That itself may be the reason why, but what reason is there to have 1000 units in queue if you only need like, twelve factories of each to build as fast as possible? Hell, I've never even reached 99 units being built in one tab Embarassed

yea internal error
im more and more thinking I just like building to big for the game to handle it

but I don't think there is a limit on how manny you can build to increace the build speed not in scermish anyway (did some testing)

i HAVE BEEN RE THINKING THE 1000 queue THOUGH
and I really hate that caplock

I do love to set it to keep building and just forget it
but I also like to be able to stop building something and make some ENG's when some fool tries to nuke walk my bace

1) get rid of the queue, its useless and quite possibly the source of the IEs.

2)Try removing the building code you added, and see if it still has IEs.

3)If you hate caps lock, THEN ZTYPING DON'T USE IT!!!!!!!!!1!!11!!

it's called scientific method. Test one variable at a time.

I would and have tried but it dosn't crash consistently enough to be sure of anything

a limit of 30 to build is practicly usless to me
still so is a game that crashes

Just test if its

or the code you changed.

I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to test this, its only 2 variables.

well I made a new map 100-100 with nothing but gems in it and a small space to start building
no coding in it and not been shrunk
after about 30 min while we still all had reasnibly small baces the game crashed for no aparent reason

perhaps I am just wasting my time looking for a cause of these crashes

Ps
I just re installed XP last week so my computer "should" be glitchless

Was there a computer player in the game?

It could quite possibly be a problem with the AI (would explain why this IE is inconsistent).

How did you put the coding in?

With the tool that FinalAlert provides, or with opening it up in notepad?

I allways open them in notepad and add it at the top
but that last map that crashed 3/4 times had no coding in it

No coding? wtf, this truly is confusing. Can't think of one thing that could cause IEs in your map...

A plain map, with nothing but ore, and no changed coding shouldn't cause IEs Confused

that's what I figured
I was thinking I would go back to basik and just add a little at a time till I start having trouble

1 plain simple map
2 put it threw TS shrinker
3 add a code for increaced build limit
4 add a code to increace the gap span
5->>> just keep adding things till I get some crashing

well I only got to step 1

No IEs? Then keep adding things...

but soon as your forget about them BANG they got you again

im bigining to think Ra2 just crashes randomly for no real reason

heh. your CAPITALIZING of random WORDS is AMUSING.

And no, Ra2/YR DOESN'T crash randomly. If it does I'd recommend either Marshall's ra2 yr cleanup utility, or reinstalling the game (the later if nothing else works).

Of course, don't do the above if its specific to your map. If its just your map I'd recommend making a new one.

that clean up thingy got my atention
but I havn't installed anything but the game from the last decade disk
though I droped a bunch of my mapes in the game folder

what gets me is a small compleatly clean map with nothing bot ore (not moding at all)
crashed nearly every time
and a large map with a bunch of stuff in it and some coding hardly ever crashes
yet some of my other maps seem to crash about 1/3 of the time
I can't seem to find a patern

first you mean Laughing

As for your problem, I have no idea. Even though you say you haven't installed/modded anything on it, I'd recommend you try the cleanup or reinstall anyways Wink

Ya personally I hate reinstalling, last time I did so was over a year ago, despite all my messing around and modding #Tongue

But before you do so, do these "random crashes" happen only on your maps?

99% of my playing is on my maps
so hard to tell

I tend to make a map to sute the mood im in then play on it

though I can't remember the last time I had a crash on somone elces map

Just try the stock maps, it'll take less time than a reinstall (and it might just be your maps anyways).

You could also open up a game, and not play it, and come back later and see if it finished because of the AI, or a crash...
