SSR Kiev [RA2/YR]
Well, this is my first vxl, so I want constructive opinions. Originally, the file contained an Aircraft Carrier made by Chriz, and I used his (or her) runway and hull, most of these. I hope he (or she) does not go mad over this. The rest is by myself. I think it is a little plain, but I don't have a clue on texturing, so, any help would be useful.
I hope you all enjoy, and any comments will be appreciate. Thanks in advance!
Edit: I have a new skin for this voxel, but I'm not releasing it now. I want to see some more input.
2nd edit: Ingames with new skin. Needs resizing, I'm on it right now.

Heh, not bad at all mate, you just need to know how to set the blueprints up properly in the voxel editor to achieve the best accuracy: http://www.ppmsite.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=19047
(Note: I plan to make a new version of the GIMP tutorial on this soon because the one I made last time was a bit too messy)
Now on to the voxel: first off its a little skinny on the width but its good that you tried to eye it out (done it before and I find it very frustrated to work with until later....I ran into Mig_Eater's creations and begun examining them...) The texture can be done by using the Voxel Texture tool to save a BMP skin file that can be edited with any graphics editor
All I can say now is keep it up buddy. _________________

Well the Width of the ship is already in the blueprint (top view)
this is how I made my Aircraft carrier (for naval units I suggest only using a blueprint with a top and side view and work it from top-to-bottom to finish it the quick way )
EDIT: image removed
Results (used a little of photoshop to do the deck texture and takeoff and landing lines)
EDIT: image removed
And how it turned out ingame:

woah... it is wonderful, sincerely. As I edited in the main post, I have a new texture, with marks in the runway as a result of the planes taking off and landing, and some little details, but nothing remotely near that Carrier of yours. _________________ Oh god how did this get here I am not good with computer. As requested, ingames (sorry if late, but I had no material time for this through the last week).
Uploaded at the first post. I see it as being small, very small, but I will play with bounds and all that and get back to you. Expect to see it double the size. _________________ Oh god how did this get here I am not good with computer. QUICK_EDIT

Pink dots are a minor issue, you can get a modifed voxel palettes for TS/RA2 here: http://www.ppmsite.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=16956 so that way it helps you from using bad choice of colors. Also the voxel ingame is not so bad after all, as I said earlier, use blueprints as templates and you'll go in the right direction.

Voxel is too small for aircraft carrier. Resize it.
And one suggestion - make model of YAK-38 Forger (soviet carrier fighter). It is simmiliar to Harrier QUICK_EDIT
Resized. There's a problem with the resizing throught bounds, pic attached. It is 5/4 of original size. double was way too much, and 3/2 was too, so I think I'll stick to this one. Well, If i can get around this problem. Other new pics are in the first post.

This is the problem. Seems like Voxel Editor doesn't like resizing throught bounds.

Never use Voxel Bounds to make voxels larger, it causes nasty errors you've just discovered now. only use voxel bounds to make voxels smaller.
I think its best you start over again from scratch than just trying to improve the existing voxel at its current state. _________________

Well... thanks anyway, guys. I'll start over, I'll get Photoshop from my sister and try to follow your tutorial, Roach, but there's a thing I don't understand about it. I'll PM you later, if you don't mind. _________________ Oh god how did this get here I am not good with computer. QUICK_EDIT

You don't need photoshop, use GIMP, I use GIMP more than photoshop because it has threshold controls when using the quick selection tool and of course, a better GUI that fits my needs IMO. Using GIMP is alot easier at creating voxel templates than photoshop as it cost less time and more effective results than photoshop.
Looks like I need to make a GIMP version of that tutorial soon since its alot easier than doing through photoshop. _________________

@Saref: You can get GIMP here http://www.gimp.org/windows/
at the download section. Powerful graphics editor, but was not intended to be a Photoshop clone. _________________

Saref, the tool you are looking for is called Voxel Editor (here, link to its forum). With that you can create voxels and put them ingame. I reccomend that you read some tutorials for voxelling, and remember that only TS, FS, RA2 and YR support these kind of graphics. Welcome to the PPM forums!
Thanks, DonutArnold ^^ _________________ Oh god how did this get here I am not good with computer. Last edited by Azkhare on Thu Nov 27, 2008 1:31 am; edited 1 time in total QUICK_EDIT
